“Beautiful area, a must do when visiting QLD”

What a gorgeous area. This is one of my daughters favorite places to visit and I was thrilled that she took me to see it for myself. A lovely walk along the ocean with my grandchildren in tow. (We did the shorter walk) and enjoyed the views, the perfect balmy weather and the little pools for the kids to play in.

We didn't spend a lot of time here as we were on our way up to the Daintree Rainforest, still... it was a very memorable visit I would highly recommend~

“Fabulous rainforest experience”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

We decided to whet our appetite with the 7km return walk on the Wompoo track - named after a native fruit dove. We picked a moderately warm day, but the shade from the tall trees and tropical vegetation kept us cool. The gradients on this section are not very difficault and we completed the return journey in 2 hours, including a short rest at the palm lined creek at the track's end.
Perfect cloudless day, (24C). The main track was in excellent condition and Wompoo track section not too difficult and can be handled in jogging shoes. There are uphill sections and shallow creek crossings after rain.
The vegetation was absolutely beautiful with exotic natives - Alexandra palms, Colocasia (Elephant Ears), native ginger, huge strangler figs, ground palms, ground ferns, interspered with other less spectacular native rainforest trees. Overhead so many varieties of birds nests, elkhorns, tree orchids and ferny creepers.

We need to get a bit more fitness for our next visit, which is the 2 day walk over the mountain range to Airlie Beach (about 30 km).

“A lovely stroll”

We did the short 2km track as we have a 2&5 year old. Next time we come back we plan to do one of the bigger ones. Kids loved it, we loved it. Highly recommended and very peaceful :)

“Ordinary but Breathtaking”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

i must say that its a tough and challenging walk, specially on the humid day. You can walk down just right next to the water edges. There are many jogging tacks as well. I must admit that its like walking in the Paradise.
