“Definately not 5 Star”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Would i stay here again, probably NOT....

Airlie Beach has lots of accommodation options, if i was to choose again, i would definately stay elsewhere.

This is definately not 5 star, at $260 a night i would have expected better service upon arrival to end of stay.

when we arrived, we were basically handed the key, and the rest was see it for yourself.

Make sure you read the fine print, because if you dont clean the apartment before you leave, you get charged....

One you open the door, you get no service whatsoever... i was totally appauled at the fact that if i wanted extra towels i had to pay extra for them.

2 Towels each for a 3 day stay....

No Free Wifi either, i thought at $7.00 fee for one hour of Wifi, and the charges.

All in all, i have travelled a lot, and stayed in a lot of accommodation hotels/apartments...

and i wouldnt recommend Pinnacles.... Look elsewhere, Airlie Beach has a lot of other options.

We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us.

The holiday rental apartments such as the one you occupied are classified as 5 star under the AAA category of “Self Catering” which covers fully self-catered apartments. This category is NOT the same as for a 5 star rated “Hotel” which may have restaurants, concierge, 24 hour front desk and daily room servicing.

Our guests have been enjoying Wi-Fi access for sometime now although this has been at a fee. We have been reviewing this recently and are pleased to advise that for the past two weeks now we have been able to offer our guests complimentary Wi-Fi in our lounge area located adjacent to the Gym/Sauna.

Whilst we do ask our guests to remove rubbish and have the dishes done, we do not expect the apartment to be cleaned. Guests who leave their apartments in an unreasonable condition may be charged an excess cleaning fee. This is common practise for majority of self contained apartment complexes.

A couple of the points you have mentioned would have been rectified immediately had we been made aware during your stay.

Kind Regards
Pinnacles Resort

We booked a two bedroom unit towards the top of the hill with amazing views across Airlie and beyond. The apartment was fantastic, really spacious and we never felt like there wasn't enough room for the two couples in there. The balcony was a great feature and one which we used a lot. The hotel is well positioned for walking down to the front (only about 10 minutes) and, apart from the hill, easy to get in and out of. They were also really accommodating for us when we had a night cancelled on the next part of our trip and they were willing to extend our booking for an additional night, plus told us that if the trip was cancelled altogether, they could let us stay for the other nights too.

The only things that are stopping this being a five star review are fairly minor, but the little things should be seen to. There weren't four matching red wine glasses in the apartment and there was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of glassware. The gym was ok, but a lot of the equipment needed maintenance and the treadmill was like running on a slippery carpet. Apart from these minor details, we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Pick a room at the top of the hill. The walk is hard but the views are worth it

The Pinnacles is a wonderful property with exceptional and well trained staff. Sue and Sarah, in the office, were very helpful to us during our stay and did it all with a friendly smile.

We had unit 27, a two bedroom unit, which we found to be lovely. The view is exceptional from the entire unit. The kitchen was well appointed, but keep in mind to keep food in the fridge as the kitchen ants will come out if food is left on the counters. The layout of the unit was relaxing and the large balcony with the hot tub was used by us every afternoon apres sun to relax and watch the wildlife. Oh yes, I did say wildlife. Each afternoon a few white parrots/cockatoos would sit on the balcony railing and beg for food. Who knew, they love Doritos as much as I do. Bush turkeys are also found high on the hill and make some unexpected noise every morning around 5am.

We found the Pinnacles to be excellent in almost every way. The infinity pool, and the gym with coffee room were delightful. This property is very low key and quiet. There is no restaurant or bar on site and is as a result, very peaceful.

The only real negative to the property is that it is located on a "very" steep hill and the units are terrace upward. The effect is that if you have a higher numbered unit and want to walk to it from town, you are in for a very physical workout. Our unit was on the top level (lucky us). We soon realized it was best to take the $5-6 cab ride from the taxis at the bottom of the hill. This is important, and it may make sense to request one of the lower units. You still will have great views because you are still half way up the hill/mountain/cliff.

Room Tip: Ask for the lower units as the hill climb/torture will be less grueling and the 5am bush turkey figh...

Flying home today after 5 nights at Pinnacles, very hard to leave! The room (1 bed ocean view with jacuzzi on the balcony) was perfect, with a view over the water that was amazing. Full kitchen facilities were handy, very spacious rooms, massive shower in the ensuite, nice clean pool with infinity edge for leaning on, but it was the view that had us eating out on the balcony - that is, when we weren't just down the hill trying out the local restaurants.

The hill is steep, we hired a car though that also allowed us to venture outside Airlie Beach. The new Woolworths is now open at the bottom of the street. Day trip operators for cruises to the nearby islands and the reef will pick you up and drop you off at the end of the driveway.

Already thinking of the next time, was very hard to leave and could easily have added on an extra couple of days.

We spent a week in an ocean view spa room and it was fantastic. Rooms were large and very clean and the views were sensational. Location was high above Airlie Beach and everything was just a short walk away. No restaurant on site but this is not a problem and there are twenty a short stroll away. The room contained everything you need with regard to kitchen utensils and cooking stuff. Full size fridge also helped.
Service from the team was great and nothing was too much trouble. Would happily stay another month!!!

Couldn't recommend any more - YOU MUST STAY HERE! We had a two bed apartment which was well equipped and had the most luscious views. When we asked for more tea they were prompt in delivering this and we thoroughly enjoyed our four nights (wishing for more). The apartments aren't serviced throughout our 4 nights stay, which I felt was perhaps borderline, just once would have been preferred, however there were spare towels and I have no doubt had we asked they would have been up in a flash.
The views are spectacular from the apartments and also the swimming pool...I had a spa treatment which was the icing on the paradise cake - A lovely stay and I will be coming back.
ps Thank you for the bubbles and chocolates left for us as a gift!
