Arrived on a very wet cold late afternoon having prebooked, no one at reception but contacted them by phone in lobby, told our room number and that key was in the door!

Room was rather cold and chilly, however, plugged in the heater and the room soon got warm.

Wifi worked well when we eventually got the access code. Room was adequate and clean.

The Silver Hills in Queenstown is a biker friendly destination in an area renowned for its tourist attractions and of course - the truly awesome rides throughout the south west of Tasmania.
The personal service and local advice offered by the new management team was really appreciated.
The Resturant provides a great selection of well presented dishes and the rooms are clean and well appointed.
I will certainly be coming back - for the rides as well as the accommodation! :)

Stayed in Queenstown doing some work for a local company. The Silver Hills staff were very friendly and the restaurant serves a good meal. Irons are only available in the Laundry and the rooms are not over large. Found everything clean, serviceable and quiet (apart from a friendly possum who arrived home to the tree nearby about when I was getting up for work!) Would stay there again. Classic Summer weather in Tassy though - take a rain coat, hat and gloves!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the East from the road have a good view - although there are some upstairs rooms th...

Dear PeterS,

Firstly thank you very much for your review, and the positive feedback that you ( like others recently ) have left. We are now a year into our renovations and there are some major improvements in the rooms, restaurant, reception and grounds...though we still have a long way to go. In the end a great stay is often about more than a new coat of paint. We believe its about great food, great staff, warm clean rooms and a good night sleep. We believe its about value for money, and the small differences such as free Wi-Fi ...

So thank you for spending a few nights at the Silver Hills Motel, and I hope we can welcome you back sometime in the future.

What a great place to dine, the food was delicious, out of 10 of us everyone had something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, what a great Chef, the service was fantastic and the views of the rugged west coast hills and Mt Owen are spectacular, highly recommended. We will certainly be going back.

Stayed here for before we went on the Western Wilderness Train trip and were happy with the room (2 doubles in the one room with an ensuite). Great value for the price, close to the station, free Wi-Fi (fast speed as well!). Like alot of cheaper motels it is showing it's age, but you can't complain for the price.

We've stayed at Silver Hills a couple times over the last few years and highly recommend this motel to anyone. The owner/manager is very friendly and goes out of his way to make your stay both comfortable and enjoyable. The chef there can cook too! The giant ribeye (on the bone) was the best piece of meat I've had in ages.

I recently stayed in an ensuited room at the front of the motel, facing the highway. While the place clearly showsits age in some respects (mostly the architecture), the rooms have been spruced up by the most recent owner, making them clean and fully functional. Free WiFi was a nice touch not often seen in motels such as this elsewhere.

For this Perthite, coming from slightly warmer climes, the spring weather was still a little cold some of the time. I fthought that the oil heater in the corner of the room may not have been the best heating option, but after some time it did appear to do the job.

With thenew owner has come a new chef I was told, and I must say that the meals were the ghighlight of the stay. The food was generous, and very well prepared. Be warned, if you choose the Rib-Eye steak, make sure you are hungry!

There are a few options for staying in Queenstown, but on my return for my next business trip, I will definitely be staying at the Silver Hills again
