“Clean and functional rooms”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

The rooms here are very old fashioned looking. The wood grain look is back big time! However the rooms were clean and functional with modern TV and good light fittings. The heaters worked too well, almost cooked myself, and the bathrooms while old were okay and clean. We ate at the restaurant one night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. It was expensive as are most restaurants and pubs in Tassie, but the quality of the food was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for 1 night while travelling through Tassie, room was basic but had everything we needed. Had a lovely meal at the restaurant. Staff were great and the host advised us on a great hike to do at Montezuma Falls!

Stayed here for 1 night whilst touring Tasmania. Overall was a good standard motel and reasonable value for money. The rooms were clean, tidy and fair sized. The host was friendly and helpful. Recommended.

I fail to understand the negative and bad reviews, Being cautious, I booked for one night and as soon as I saw the room, went to reception and extended my stay by two days, The amount of time that I wished to spend in Queenstown. The rooms are clean, spacious and have everything that you need in a Motel. Last night a charity cycle event stayed here and as they had been on the road all day, I expected the hot water to run out, even with all those cyclists here, plenty of hot water,Would return. Staff very friendly and helpful, I am in room 32 typing this and have amazing views. Great place to stay.

The rooms are worn but comfortable. The staff is friendly and full of information about the surrounds, the history and things to see and do. Your made feel welcome at all times. If the receptionist knows what your interests are they make suggestions on what you might like to see and do.

My family grabbed a few rooms for a very brief one night stay in Queenstown.. We booked this hotel for is affordability and we acknowledged that we'd spoiled ourselves with fancy accommodation in other locations during our Tasmanian holiday immediately before our Silver Hills experience, however, regardless of this we found the rooms too small for a little family of 3 requiring space for a porta cot. However my parents-in-law weren't phased by the modest space.
We arrived on a warm and balmy night and we looked forward to opening all windows.......... But alas, there weren't any windows that opened wide enough to allow the air to circulate. We found it very difficult to sleep and our toddler tossed and turned throughout night. The fans provided in our rooms helped but fresh air would have made all the difference.
Breakfast cereal was eaten out of a mug because there weren't any plates, bowls, or a toaster in the room. If we have had the time, we'd have eaten in the restaurant even though we prefer to prepare our own food.

In a bid to keep this review both reflective and praising, I would like to acknowledge the exceptionally friendly and honest service we experienced. We arrived at dinner time and wanted to eat on arrival, however, reception encouraged us to have a bite to eat down the road because they were unusually busy! We appreciated this very much because waiting for food would have made us hangry (hungry-angry). It's not often a restaurant turns away a few hundred dollars for the benefit of customer experience!
The views from this motel are extraordinary! Especially from the restaurant/reception!
Bed was comfortable, great TV, cleanliness was noticeable and location was exquisite.

I'm certain that had we have gone to reception and told a staff member that we were disappointed in the lack of bowls etc, they'd have probably given is a few to use!

Overall, for what you pay and for the basics you require this accommodation is fairly reasonable... But some windows to open would make it better than reasonable!
