Ramada Encore Dandenong

Reviewed 16 February 2014

Basic, adequate, friendly efficient staff, clean and comfortable. Good value. We had some minor issues with the air conditioning, but overall very good. I would not stay in Dandenong again. we only stayed there because of a family reunion that was about 10klms away and there is not a lot of options out that way and the price made it very appealing. Breakfast was included. Buffet - nothing flash - hot food needed to be a bit hotter apart from that there was plenty there and we were more than satisfied. Our room was quiet and the bed comfy.

Highlights:
- location: right opposite the dandy plaza, close walk to restaurants
- easy access to public transport: bus comes to the door step
- parking: good secure parking for free!!!
- friendly & professional staff: staff at check in was very pleasant

lowlights:
- ordered room service for dinner, left tray outside door - wasn't cleared out when i checked out the next day
- rooms are tiny and walls are thin

Overall - a good hotel, ok for an overnight stay!

To any hospitality executive looking for staff of the highest possible standard may I suggest you approach Ashini at this hotel and start from there. All staff were attentive without being suffocating, professional without being condescending, and friendly without being familiar. NOTHING was too much trouble.

The hotel has (had!) 2 major Work Place Safety (WPS) issues. The first concerned the beds which are approx 6 inches off the ground and are surrounded by a 6 inch solid wooden frame. They are constructed so that the client isnt aware of the frames, the corners of which are are sharp. I accidently gashed my leg against the frame to the extent that the floor resembled a murder set in a B Grade movie. Step in Ehab! Armed with the appropriate medical aids he assisted in ensuring that my health was taken care of then proceeded to clean the movie set...um...floor!

Another issue is with the shower, the spray of which cannot be contained withing the recess.

In both cases I had photographs as supporting evidence which I was going to add. Too Late! When I saw the staff at check out, arrangements were already in hand to correct the WPS issues. .

Oh, about the hotel...great location. Connecting bus from Dandenong RS stops outide the hotels front door...circa 40 min trip to Melbourne. Hotel is directly opposite Dandenong Plaza.
Rooms are small. No Sky News nor Fox News on Foxtel. Broadband a bit slow but offce equipment can be made avaiable. Bed is comfortable.

HOWEVER, the Staff make this hotel. Special mention to Ehab, Antionette, Ashini, Diana and Samia. To the others, I'm certain you're just as a good

Staffs were friendly, good location. Paper thin wall, you can hear every single conversation from your neighbour or people outside of your room. Terrible pillow, didn't sleep well at all! I will not be staying in this hotel anymore.

Stayed overnight to attend a business meeting the next day. Room very basic, and certainly nothing special, however it was clean, and the bed was very comfy. A reading lamp on both sides of the bed would be helpful. Looked like there had been one at some stage. Reception was very friendly and helpful, and check in quick. If you drive to this hotel, pull up in front of the roller door on the right hand side. They will open it for you when you check in. Had a good nights sleep, and never heard a sound. Breakfast was typical buffet, but quite OK. I would stay there again

Room Tip: Room was on the south side, looking out at a courtyard. No traffic noise at all.

Nice location in the center of Dandenong, just opposite the mall. Private (closed-door) car park with lots of spaces. Room was fine, interesting bathroom. Some of the shared areas look a bit shabby and the breakfast is pricey, but there's really nothing wrong with staying here.

Friendly front desk, We stayed 2 night. The location is good. The room was nice and modern, but a little cramped. Bathroom had all glass sink and vanity, all glass shower big enough for two. But the toilet was a little close to the wall on one side. Thin walls, the 2nd night there another room had a baby and you could hear every time the baby was up. Internet cable plug in was on the desk behind the TV, so if you were using your computer on the desk you could be blocking the view of the TV for any body else in the room with you. Also the space between the bed and desk was a little close, and I hit my shin on the bed frame going by it. Had off street parking with a gate that was locked at night. Across street from shopping mall with large food court and anything else you could need. No frig, but a will cooler. No cooking.
