“Decent Hotel with great location”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

Decent hotel with a good bar and plenty of events going on. Only downside is that there's no train going to Coogee and therefore you're left to get the bus or taxi if you don't live in Coogee. Apart from that the rooms are okay and kept clean. I wouldn't go there again to stay but it's not a bad spot

A bonus to have breakfast included, but the room itself wasn't anything special. We had booked a room with a balcony and had to go downstairs to have ours rooms changed to include this.Free parking was also a plus. Fabulous location for restaurants, the beach, and the Bondi to Coogee walk.

Stayed on the second floor pub style room. On a business trip. Rooms good size and standard older style 3 star property. Staff are very friendly and food in the beer garden was great. No soap holder in shower and basic amenities. Comfy bed with plasma screen tv. Not bad value if you don't pay too much.

This place has been on my list of places to take tourists to Sydney for 35 years.
Near the beach, outdoor eating and drinking.

Today though the place was so noisy with the sound of nail guns and other building site work was embarrassing to take my French visitor. In France no eatery is allowed to be open if work is occurring on the premises.

The meal we had was of good quality, and made up - almost - for the noise.

I booked to stay in this hotel in the romantic ocean view room!! firstly had to request the bubbly and strawberrys, they were not waiting in the room for us arriving. This was part of the surprise. The view was nice if you stood way back from the balcony. We were directly above a delivery station for an alcohol shop, the noise from the deliveries woke us very early and beeped all morning Worst part was the continental breakfast!!! For the price I would have expected a full breakfast. Anyway we arrive for our continental breakfast. All the cups were dirty, hairs in them and stained. As were the bowls. The staff did not even acknowledge us when I tried to ask for clean cups etc! We booked 3 nights, cancelled the other two, with not even an apology. The staff looked at me as though I had done something wrong to complain.

In Edinburgh, for the price of this hotel you would get soooo much for your money.

I have to say I do not complain ever, therefore this was very out of character for me but one thing lead to another and complain I had to.

Coogee beach is stunning, just book elsewhere to enjoy your holiday.

I stayed here 4 nights in one of the pub style rooms. I was apprehensive at first because I thought a 'pub room' would be dark, small and musty. I was very wrong. These rooms (I stayed in 2 different ones) are huge - very roomy and bright, with a view right over the main street in Coogee and even the beach. And it only cost $140 a night to stay practically ON one of the most iconic beaches in Sydney. Ok, the rooms were a little old fashioned, it is an historically listed building after all, but the upside made up for this. The room was clean and not too noisy, even on Friday night, and equipped with all the basic facilities - wifi, fridge, coffee and tea, hair dryer, lots of clean towels, flat screen TV, 24 hour reception - what else do you need? I was so impressed for the price and will be back when I return to Oz next year.

Spent grand final weekend at Coogee Bay Hotel.

This review is based on the 3 star accommodation not the boutique accommodation.

Went their with a group of friends, check in was nice and quick even with 12 of us there. Staff explained everything and then we were on our way.

The rooms themselves are nothing special, but the beds are quite comfortable believe it or not. They are quite dark and very basic, however if you are looking for quality location for budget price then this is it.

Downstairs you have the beer garden at your doorstep, and the brasserie that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were there from Friday - Monday and one thing i noticed was that this place is ALWAYS busy, so get yourself a nice booth in the beer garden early!

Directly across the road is the beach, and it is beautiful. Great if you feel like a lazy day in the sun.

One thing i will mention, even though it didn't concern me, is that downstairs in the beer garden the bouncers/managers are VERY strict. To the point where you question the way they treat people.

However, the hotel itself, good for what you pay taking into account the location. All the basics are still provided and it is a general hub of Sydney night life.

Room Tip: I was in room 120, but room 117 was a corner room. Same price and MUCH bigger.
