Wow, quite a litany of sins here. But I suspect it reveals more about the writer than the hotel. Where to start?
The carpets. They have been replaced with brand spanking new black carpet. And the hallways are getting a new lick of paint.
Gives the hotel a whole new ambience.
The offending grout in the bathroom is being refreshed.
We are looking into improving the lighting, we can always improve our lighting.
As for the kitchenette, we disagree with your “pathetic” appraisal. It has a fridge, sink, microwave, coffees, teas, glasses, cups.
Inadvertently, where space is at a premium, it makes sense to have the reception next to the breakfast room.
And if you worried about the speed of the TV channels changing, is Coogee Beach the place to be?
What’s more, at a time when starchy corporate organisations like PWC and JP Morgan are telling staff to leave their ties at home, we think our beachside hotel staff should dress as they please.
More important that they enjoy their work, connect with guests and look after them well. Our team of hospitality veterans, who prefer to work in a more relaxed atmosphere, do just that.
Which brings me to breakfast, it’s FREE. Not factored into our tariff. As you say, it is a far cry from Europe. But it seems you were in a different Europe to the one I spent many years constantly criss-crossing on jobs, where continental breakfast is usually a croissant or roll and coffee.
Our FREE breakfast includes: fresh orange juice, indulgent yoghurt with honey whipped up for us by The Yoghurt Company, coffee by Lavazza and Coffee Roasters, sliced peaches, a variety of breads, premium toasted muesli by Natural Grocer, a gluten free option and more.
The internet pictures are not “miss leading” as you say. Each room is photographed exactly as it is and clearly captioned for room type. Not at all misleading. No added decoration. No trick lensing.
Also prominently displayed on our website are our dogs. Much loved by most of our guests, and the main reason many come here.
Just like they do in Europe where dogs have seats on planes and in restaurants. But hey “Chacun a son gout”.
