“Great food and friendly family chalet”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were a little disappointed with the size of the room as the bathroom door couldn't open all of the way without hitting the bed so we had to squeeze through. Other than this though we were really pleased. The food was great and just what you want when finishing a day on the slopes- they always had 3 home cooked courses that varied nightly. The family that runs the chalet was also incredibly helpful and friendly. All accommodation is expensive in the Snowy Mountains but I did feel this was slightly on the high side for the size of the room. A final note they did have a sauna and spa bath you could use which was great after a long day on the slopes!

Stayed just a single night at Aalberg Chalet for a couple of days skiing. Hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were very clean and well heated and the one we stayed in quite spacious. There was some inter-room noise, which could have been particular to the room (Room 2), and the bed was a tad hard for me. I am a light sleeper at the best of times and we booked late so may not have had an option for a quieter room. However, after a big skiing day it's wasn't to much of a drama. In the morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast, although it would be nice to be able to get a slightly bigger helping on the hot food.
The chalet is just a few minutes drive to the local shopping centre, and good selection of restaurants and bars etc.
Overall for its rating, price and considering it was the peak season we came away satisfied with our experience and would definitely consider going back.

Stayed with a friend on 18 August. Very well kept place and the hosts were very nice. I initially found it on last minute.com but then called up as I needed to confirm the room configuration as two single beds. The manager was very helpful in arranging this. Hot breakfast in the morning was very nice, with hot chocolate on tap a great touch. Common areas were also really well set up. I will definitely stay again.

Our family recently spent a week at the Aalberg Chalet in Jindabyne. It was the kids first time to the snow so we wanted a great snow holiday experience! On a friends recommendation we chose to stay at the Aalberg In Jindabyne instead of on-snow and we're glad we did.
After meeting Ulla and Lindsay on check in, we knew this was the perfect place to stay with a family. The lounge room was really well set up to entertain kids but also for adults to nominate a lounge, to claim their own space and read a book. They also gave a drying room, spa/sauna and great hot showers for all!
But the best part of all was the great meals! After a big day of skiing, there's nothing better than arriving to a choice of 3 mains, 2 desserts and a delicious soup each day. The kids were in heaven and I could truly relax without having to cook each night. It's the smallest things that differentiate from other accommodation options and provide great memories. During the week my husband had a birthday so Ulla arranged for the wonderful chef to make a cake, which really blew me away! I appreciated the fact that they went above and beyond standard service and did everything in their power to make our stay both comfortable and enjoyable.
Ulla is a superwoman in disguise and Lindsay was a budding magician with his card tricks which kept the kids suspiciously entertained for a couple of hours!
We really enjoyed the warm hospitality all the staff provided and as Arnie says...."we'll be back....."
Thanks again!

Room Tip: We stayed in a great family room upstairs which was nice and quiet and had its own ensuite. It also...

Wonderful and very helpful owners. Room is clean and comfy and has been pleasantly upgraded to a bigger room sleeping four. Kitchenette was handy and comes with fridge and microwave apart from tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is good; hot meals, cereals and juice which is just right before skiing. Have enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back. Well recommended.

Spent a wonderful week at the Aalberg in July 2014.
Such a friendly, family-run chalet, with plenty of smiles and ski advice to be found.
Clean, comfortable and toasty warm rooms. Lovely lounge room and bar to relax in before the optional dinner. We tried the dinner once and immediately signed up to have the remainder of our meals at the Aalberg!
Delicious food, plentiful servings and great variety.
Great location, nice and quiet but still so close to town.
Would not stay anywhere else.

We have just finished a four day stay at the Aalberg and absolutely loved it. It was our second holiday there - we stayed in 2012 and were really happy to find the Aalberg as welcoming and warm now as it was then. The food is hearty and delicious - perfect after an energetic day on the slopes. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. Ulla and Lindsay are such wonderful hosts - friendly, helpful and accommodating, and always happy to help with any request. Our daughters loved the games room too. The Aalberg really is a fantastic choice for families looking for lodge-style accommodation in Jindabyne. Highly recommended - we will be back.
