Lovely B&B with beautifully furnished and appointed rooms, and a fabulous welcome from Sue and her adorable dog Izzy! Sue goes the extra mile, with home baked cookies in the room and an extensive breakfast menu served on the gorgeous veranda where my husband and I also spent several happy hours lounging in the afternoons after our explorations of the mountains. Great location, easy couple of mins walk to all the shops and restaurants of Katoomba, and well placed for all the attractions in the area. Would highly recommend in all respects.

Room Tip: We had Dame Joan which was the smallest room, but was still more than spacious enough. The other roo...

Lovely comfortable room, and facilities excellent.
Delicious substantial gourmet breakfast.
Complete privacy assured, with no lengthy chats as found in a lot of b&b's, just friendly hospitable attention from Sue. Many b&b owners could take note and learn from Sue's professional attitude.
Loved little Bella, the dearest little well behaved dog.
Please ignore swimming pool and fitness room ratings - pressed accidentally and cannot remove!

A very friendly welcome from our host Sue and her little dog was the start of a very pleasant stay at Melba House. All the rooms are beautifully decorated with everything you could want and ours was elegant and cosy, with old world charm plus all mod cons. The home has quite a lovely intimate garden with lots of birds, and a veranda just made for relaxation. The home is well located close to Katoomba shops but in a quiet street with other period homes. We had a great experience and would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to our friends.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days in the Dame Nellie room. We absolutely enjoyed our stay: a beautifully decorated room, luxurous bed linen, port wine, chocolates and fresh cake on the house and delicious breakfasts made by the lovely host Sue (always accompanied by her cute dog Issy).
Sue did everything she could to make our stay a great experience: information on the region, how to drive back to Lakes Entrance, made calls to check if restaurants could fit us in for a Christmas lunch, warmed up the bathrobe for my wife, etc. When we left, she even gave us a nice present.
We can absolutely recommend a stay at Melba House!

Room Tip: Get the Dame Nellie room, it's worth the extra money.

Melba House is just away from the main drag in Katoomba so is quiet, but within an easy walk to / from the town and station. It is nearest Stop 3 on the Blue Mountains Explorer bus. A delightful high-ceilinged, imaginatively and luxuriously furnished Australian villa. Our room had a sofa, table and chairs as well as the usual accoutrements. Outside there is a first-floor verandah overlooking a small garden where we were served breakfast and where we relaxed when not out on the bus or in the town. Lovely hostess who makes the most delicious chocolate ginger cakes as well as a breakfast to set you up for the day. Co-owner is Izzy which, to us dog people, is a bonus. A delightful two-night break. English beware - in Australia birds squawk, not sing, so the dawn chorus is not tuneful. If you want to be picky then rubbish wifi - see my other reviews on where to go for good service.

Room Tip: We stayed in Dame Joan which was great. No bath - no idea if any others have a bath - we prefer a sh...

A wonderful experience. Perfect location, great hostess, lovely rooms and delicious breakfasts - not much else you can ask for. Sue offered a ton of great information about the town and what to do around the Blue Mountains. I recommend this place for all.

Melba House is a classic villa with large, well furnished comfortable rooms situated in a quiet part of Katoomba. It is hosted by Sue, who is charming and for whom nothing is too much trouble. Her milk pancakes at breakfast and cakes and cookies are to die for, and her recommendations for local restaurants was very good. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the experience.
There were some small areas that need improvement. The WiFi is via a free public service and only allows basic activity such as downloading and sending emails. Also watch out for the "man-trapped" gravelled entrance paths which inexplicably have a series of large pieces of masonry placed strategically to trip you up, especially at night!

Room Tip: We occupied the "Dame Edna" room which was spacious and comfortable. Have no reason to bel...
