“A class act- beautiful luxurious b&b”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Melba house is a delightful b&b with all the details throughly thought out. It is a little slice of luxury from high quality bedding, internal heating and an open fire, to a wonderful breakfast menu full of choice to a decanter of port by the bedside! It isn't the cheapest accommodation in the area, but it is wonderful for a special weekend away. Highly recommended!

One of the nicest stays I have ever had in the mountains .. sue and her lovely dog Issy are most gracious and generous hosts... Melba room is gorgeous with old world decor, super cosy, open fireplace , spa bath and all the trimmings.. to cap off a lovely weekend it snowed for us one evening; in coming to the mountains for over 50 years it was the first time I ever saw it snow there..

definitely worth splashing out if you want to spoil your self for a weekend..

Room Tip: Melba room

Nice! We had a wonderful stay at Melba House. It is off the main thorough fair, yet near enough. We took the Dame Joan unit. The room is well furnished; has central heating, individual heating unit AND a heated bed for the winter. There were heaters in the bathroom too.
Sue prepared lovely breakfast each morning and she also had cakes and fruits available at anytime of the day. Apart from the usual tea, there were cookies and port wine in the room.
The room was indeed comfortable.

We stayed at Melba House at Katoomba for one night on our way home from a holiday. We chose the Dame Joan suite, being the smallest of the three suites available. If we choose to return to Melba House, we would probably choose one of the larger suites, as the ensuite in this particular suite is quite small. However, the room is comfortable, beautifully decorated and has all the comforts you need, plus nice little extras. On arrival, Sue had the suite nicely warmed up, which we appreciated, plus home made cake for afternoon tea. You would certainly be very happy with the warmth provided in the suites from the central heating, plus a bonus oil filled heater. We enjoyed breakfast served by Sue in our own suite. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room, plus TV, comfortable lounge chair, and dining nook. It is conveniently located close to Katoomba shopping precinct.

Room Tip: Dame Joan is the smallest of the 3 suites - if you want larger choose one of the other two suites.

Having booked this online and not sure whether it would be over the top, (we had the Dame Edna Suite so anything could have happened) - we were absolutely delighted with our room. Sue and Izzy (her very friendly dog) were delightful, helpful, welcoming and with spot on recommendations for where to eat, walk, shop etc. Tea and cake on arrival, chocolates, port, candles, an open fire in the bedroom and bubbles for the Spa bath, I wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely go back and have already recommended it to friends in Sydney.

Excellent stay in the Nellie suite. Cant recommend it enough for a blue mountains stay. Sue and Izzy (the American cocker spaniel) were friendly and personable hosts. Sue very helpful on where to go etc. Lovely touches in the room - port, cookies, tea, coffee, chocolate, robes and slippers, candles etc really enhanced the stay and we felt very at home. Large and varied collection of DVDs to watch and guide books on walks which we used and found extremely useful. Delicious breakfast brought to your room (you order the night before). Good location close to the echo point lookout, 3 sisters walk, Katoomba town with restaurants etc. Would definitely return and recommend. Thanks Sue.

Room Tip: Nellie is biggest room and we loved it. Spacious and comfortable. Huge bed. Open fire.

Our very first stay in a B&B, and am chuffed to say we had such a a delightful time. Our host, the lovely Sue was helpful in every single way possible in preparing us excellent breakfasts and giving us recommendations on where to visit in town and tips if we were making a trip to a specific destination for the day. We love animals so it was a joy to have Izzy around - she is just as warm and welcoming and just adds to the charm of the B&B. The facilities are very clean and comfortable, with our room furnished decadently and we felt we had every creature comfort that you would ever need! We had stayed in the chill of winter (we were blessed with good weather and sun) and were able to stay in the Dame Nellie room - we were warm and cosy all night and during the day when we were in. In regards to proximity to Katoomba St - Melba House is located by a small 2 minute drive or a 5 - 10 minute walk up the street. We will definitely be staying again!
