We had lunch here on our last day in Katoomba (and Australia), looking forward to a good memory, after reading reviews. The place always seemed full, and we couldn't get in the previous day so a 20 minute wait inside for a table wasn't a problem. However the well over one hour wait(we didn't time it at first) for our food was, and it took 20 mins to get drinks.Given that our order involved no cooking(sandwich and salad) it smacks of serious inefficiency.Other tables fared no better. No staff apologies or explanations, so we presumed this was a norm. Not surprised in hindsight that it was always full-it takes so long to eat here!
We had a good Reuben sandwich, but the smoked chicken salad was poor.Given the ethos of 'health food' and nature reverence serving slices of processed 'wet' chicken is unexpected and disappointing. The salad itself was bog-standard fare. The 'green drink' (kale broccoli, mate) is an acquired taste that probably needs more visits,if you have time.Glad we only had one course or we could have missed our plane.
The place is very interesting, resembling a quirky treehouse , and it is easy to see why it attracts customers- with its 'alternative' vibe and 'worthy' ethos- but it needs to deliver in both senses of the word.
When asked by one of the staff how it had been ,I expressed disappointment with the chicken and he replied "Really?" That was it.

We always come here when we got to Katoomba and always have the same thing! The cranberry and candied cashew salad with satay tofu is incredible and the green drink is so delicious. We always have their carrot cake for dessert too =) all the meals are generously sized but very affordable. It's not open on Saturdays so we have been caught out a few times on a weekend drive but apart from that I can't really fault it. The staff are friendly and there are always plenty on so you never have to wait long for a meal or a seat.

After being recommended the Yellow Deli by the staff at our motel and having seen customers queuing to get inside the previous evening, we (two of us) decided to have lunch there after a lovely morning's walking in the mountains. It was a Monday afternoon so we were able to get one of their nice wooden tables without any difficulty and received a friendly welcome.

However, whilst the service remained friendly, it was very slow. Our server was perfectly nice to us, but seemed flummoxed by simple questions (e.g., what soft drinks do you have?) Seated at the front of the restaurant near the kitchen, we also detected a strange vibe and some tension between our server and other staff.

Yet the most disappointing aspect of our experience, after hearing such good things, was the food. The menu is limited and the quality of the food very disappointing. We both ordered salads, which took around 30 minutes to arrive and were lacking in flavour (which is difficult for a salad!) It's the kind of place that screams 'wholesome and organic', but the 'smoked chicken' was a few processed slices, carefully rolled and balanced on top of a bed of limp lettuce crammed in a small bowl with lots of olives, cubes of cheddar cheese, and garlic croutons. Not mixed at all and evidently no thought given about the use of complementary flavours. Maybe the sandwiches are better, but we certainly wouldn't recommend the salads!

We had high hopes, due to the intriguing interior and local recommendation, but the food does not live up at all to the restaurant's appearance.

Found the entire experience delightful, from the friendly service, the quirky and genuine staff, the amazing hobbit-town feel and the wholesome food. Strangely, my 6 year old who is allergic to peanuts was behaving strangely for the entire time she was there (she is usually a gentle-natured enthusiast for food). She complained of a strange smell (which we couldn't smell) and was moody for the entire time which was odd. While waiting for a table I accidentally fed my 4 year old a sample of one of their health bars which I hadn't realised contained peanuts until I read the ingredients. I had not exposed her to peanuts yet but am relieved that she isn't allergic so was a blessing in disguise.

We had mango smoothies, green chai, green energy drink, smoked chicken sandwich and white bean soup and it was all excellent, and the value exceptional. I'd highly recommend it for all the reasons above however if you have a severe allergy to peanuts (which my daughter doesn't, ie she isn't anaphylactic), be cautious.

Great local cafe. Healthy food, good service although very busy and you need to book. Not open on Saturdays. It is like eating in a tree house. Would recommend for the experience.
