“Fantastic massage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013 via mobile

As a Christmas treat, we went in for a massage at the Lilianfels spa. It was a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable experience ( though a bit pricey). We got the 75 minute stress relief massage and were assigned two very professional and excellent therapists. We were also allowed to use the spa facilities (sauna and jacuzzi) at no extra charge. Very friendly service. When making the booking it was hard to get through to the spa but once there, everyone was friendly and welcoming.

We loved the location and the amazing swimming pools, it was very hot weather while we were in Katoomba so really enjoyed sitting by the outside pool enjoying the mountains air after a day of sight seeing. Food and drinks were great, as was the service.

Room Tip: Double Queen room was great for us with one child, very spacious

My husband and I have stayed at may hotels in our travels and adored our stay at Lilianfels.
The facilities, the view, the staff all go together to make the stay at the hotel simply delightful !
We chose Lilianfels on recommendation of friends as we were celebrating a special occasion.
The room and the hotel had charming decor with beautiful Christmas trees and decoration everywhere. Located very close to the Three Sisters and overlooking the beautiful mountain valleys, a prefect view to wake up to .

Room Tip: Pay extra to get a room with valley view, it's worth it.

I have been lucky enough to have stayed in many hotels all over the world and this has to be one of, if not the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

The location is fantastic and the overall feel of the "resort" is utterly charming, like an elegant and yet cosy country house. Some could argue the décor of the rooms is overly floral or twee but it utterly suited the hotel and I found it to be very smart.

The bedrooms are beautiful, large, well appointed and come with fantastic marble bathrooms. The public areas and gardens were all impeccably maintained with beautiful indoor and outdoor pool areas.

I should also mention that the staff were excellent being warm, friendly and professional without any pretentiousness which can often be a case in hotels that consider themselves superior.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to others.

Great hotel with amazing location! Luxury all over, the BEST food and service.

We had a massage at the spa and was very good! The facilities... not that much. They were a little dirty.

Downside: A little dirty overall :(

I met some friends for a girl's weekend and really enjoyed the ambience.

The surrounds are very nice, it feels like fresh area, it feels like you are miles away from chaos. Go for one of the walks nearby. Try the pool.

The staff were really helpful, particularly with local information.

The rooms are modern. clean and well services. It felt very classy and warm, decadent as well. The bathroom was spotless which is what I must have!

The food is to die for. even the breakfast.

The massage was one of the best I have had and my friends raved about facials, pedicures and the rest.

I am very glad I tried this resort and I will surely go back. A good way to catch up witriends and treat yourself. I didn't even get distracted by the kids!

We stayed at Lilianfels two years ago and were unimpressed with the service, state of the place and overall ambience. I am now extremely happy to report that they have sorted it all out!

We stayed here for a long weekend and chose the pet weekend (extra $90aud per night for the cat) so we could bring along our beloved cat. I received a phone call a few nights before asking for the size of the cat so they could prepare the room with a bed and dinner plates! upon arrival we were given a in room dining pet menu, and given the room on the ground floor with direct outside access (more important for dogs).

They do not allow you to leave your pet in the room unattended (which is fair enough) so we took our breakfast, high tea and dinner in the top section of the restaurant. It does mean you can't go and lounge on the comfy soft sofa's however noone wants cat/dog hair everywhere so this is understandable.

The room was luxurious and comfortable, however as it was the disabled room, there was no bath which was a bummer for me. The pillows were AMAZING**. For once I didn't need to use my own special squigy!

I had an amazing pregnancy massage done by the Dutch masseuse and would absolutely recommend this. It is fairly expensive, at $150 for 60 mins however I was very relaxed and happy at the end of it. My only recommendation to the hotel would be to get a slightly larger treatment bed (and room!) as it felt like i was going to fall off it as the pillow took up most of the space. Also the pan pipe music was annoying but i appreciate this is standard spa music!

We had high tea and dinner in the hotel. High tea was lovely and the sandwiches were very tasty. Often I have experienced high teas where the bread is stale from sitting out too long and I can happily say that the Lilianfels high tea does NOT suffer from this! They also use loose leaf tea thank god!
Dinner was nice and surprisingly enough, my sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare (all too often Australian's overcook meat!). It was very expensive for what it was however, but it is still cheaper than Darleys at least. If you are concerned about coin, go into Katoomba town.

Lastly, the hotel itself has had a touch up. Gone is the peeling paint and cracks in wood, the empty sad pool, and the awful unattentive staff. In its place are people that care and look after you, a genial atmosphere, and a unobtrusive feel of light luxury. Its not quite 5 star, but then no where really is in the blue mountains, and this place is as good as it gets. I just wish it were a touch cheaper so I could come more often.

Would I recommend? absolutely.

Cons: nothing really! This place strikes me as a great wedding venue, so it might be worth checking its not a wedding weekend when you book if this bothers you.

Pros: location is unbeatable as it is right next to 3 sisters and the start of a few decent walks. Everything else is pretty much spot on!

**The pillows were AMAZING. Yes. Did I say it. Absolutely spot on with soft pillows and a slightly firmer one. Amazeballs. :))

Room Tip: We had the disabled room on the ground floor meaning we had direct access to the courtyard bit outsi...
