Stayed in a Traditional room. Very basic facilities, no air con in room and shared bathrooms at the end of the hall. That was the only down side to my stay and was my call to pick that room. Other accommodation rooms had split system aircon and private bathrooms. Could have spent half a day exploring the hotel with the stained glass windows, billiard room, library and lounge with an open fir and piano (some talented guests) and don't forget to visit the Cellar and taste some great wines. The service, food, drinks and cocktails were all amazing. The staff was very friendly and was treated like a lord from the time I stepped in the front door until the time I left after checking out. 100M walk from the train station and tourist buses. with a bus stop in front of the hotel and local shopping strip start right in front of the hotel, location is perfect. Thinking of going to Katoomba? then staying at the Carrington must be on your list

Room Tip: If on a budget, pick a traditional room, otherwise all rooms are great.

Enjoyed staying at this beautiful old hotel for an overnight stay. Room was a cheaper one and freezing until the heating kicked in which took a while. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast delicious and included in the price. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Only complaint was the heating unit noisy and not very efficient.

I had never stayed at The Carrington before as I thought it looked a bit too old world. How wrong was I.

Form the moment I stepped in late at night, the Receptionist was warm and fuzzy and she explained all and welcomed with a genuine tone.

The Room was warm, extremely clean, generous in size and had nice toiletries. It had a great King Size bed which was very comfortable. An best of all it had a large flat screen TV.

The only thing I would change is to provide thicker pillows.

Room Tip: Get a Room with the shared balcony - Fantastic Views down to Leura and the Mountains!!

We stayed in a family room for 4 nights and we all, kids included, loved the old-world charm of the hotel -the massive ceilings, stained glass windows, bars, sitting rooms, dance floors, billiards room and more. Drinks at the bar in the evenings was a grand affair and it was nice to have a pianist accompany us for dinner. He even let the kids play a piece each.

The continental breakfast included in the price was acceptable. The staff were friendly. The family room contained a queen bed and 2 singles, which was fantastic for us. The only real problem was the ensuite bathroom, which was really awful. The two lowlight being (a) the enamel on the bath was cracked in many places, meaning a bath was out of the question, and (b) the toilet seat & cover did not stay up, meaning that men had to hold them up when standing and everyone had to put up with the cover resting on our backs when sitting - urgh.

To avoid ending on a negative note, I'll repeat that we loved the hotel.

Room Tip: The family room is great if you have kids with you, but check if there's one that has a renovate...

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights. Our room was charming, full of original features and Art Deco, absolutely lovely. We had the grand afternoon tea which was fab, with a pianist and a great experience. We played billiards one evening in the games room and ate in the old bank next to the hotel. Service was efficient and discreet throughout our stay. Definitely the place to stay in the Blue mountains.

Had a great two nights in the Carrington recently. Staff very warm and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed the piano player in the restaurant the first night. Food was very good, also enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning. I had a small problem which was fixed straight away with no fuss. It is in a very good location for traveling around the Blue Mountains. Rooms very spacious. Lots of places in the hotel to just sit and chill.

The Carrington is a wonderful hotel from times gone by. It's a magnificent, imposing building both inside and out.

OK, I've stayed in a lot better hotels, ones that are more comfortable, had better rooms, better bars, better bathrooms etc but The Carrington has a wonderful charm about it and it is a great experience staying here.

The rooms are OK, reasonably comfortable. The bathroom perfectly functional and the location is superb, not only for Katoomba's delights but also as a base to explore to incredible Blue Mountains The reception staff are great, extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the bartender is superb!! Ask for his signature cocktail!

So it's not 5 star luxury but I would have no hesitation in staying here again - it's great!
