Had a lovely and relaxed long weekend at the Heritage. The staff were professional and very helpful. Really felt looked after. I had the heritage view room and the views were fantastic, the bed very comfortable and the room very cosy and warm with the heater on. The location of the Heritage is perfect. Really close to Katoomba St and Lurline St and 3 Sisters on Echo Point Rd. Plus Spa Sublime was brilliant. Loved the massage and facial. Just what I needed. I just love the charm and quaintness of the Heritage Hotel. It is not something you can experience in the spiffy big hotels nowadays. Loved my experience and will come back again for sure!

Room Tip: Make sure you bring a toothbrush brush and a tube of toothpase.

Dear Fatima1128
We are pleased you enjoyed a comfortable & relaxing stay in one of our fantastic view rooms.
Thank you for your comments about our wonderful staff, they certainly love positive feedback.
I will also certainly pass on your feedback to the great Spa Sublime team.
It is very pleasing you love the quaintness & charm of our historic mountain retreat, it certainly is impossible to find our history and character in modern style hotels.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments, and I hope we can welcome you back again.

We decided to stay at this hotel at the last minute and we were not disappointed. This is a top quality hotel with plenty of heritage and charm. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The gas/coal fireplace in our room was fantastic. Staff were very friendly, polite and professional. The restaurant food was exceptional and the same could be said for the breakfast. I would definitely come back to this hotel again. I would also recommend booking on the hotel website directly. this allows you to add extras like wine and chocolates in your room and a dinner deal at the restaurant that was exceptional value. Of all the hotels I have stayed this was the most enjoyable.

Room Tip: Fireplace and Spa Room was very Romantic, I would definitely choose this room again

We were so disappointed with our stay here. We booked into the superior spa suite as a treat to ourselves- it was expensive but we figured it would be worth it going from the photos on the website.

It was not worth it- the images had been doctored enormously. Our bedroom wasn't luxurious at all, instead the room was uninspiring with a pointless second room off it which was unnecessary and badly designed. The bathroom was enormous but cold and uninviting. There was a view but as we were on the ground floor we were basically looking out onto the driveway which isn't particularly scenic. However the room was clean and if the hotel had been a warm inviting place we would have gotten over it.

But the staff were so unfriendly. From our greeting at reception, to the staff in the breakfast room (who did not greet us other than asking if we wanted to pay extra for hot food) to the receptionist who refused us a glass of water at 10pm and told us to get water from our mini bar. (water from mini bar was an absolute rip off- 5 dollars for a small bottle) During the day we asked for the fire to be lit in the lounge room, the staff member did it with a sigh and not a hint of friendliness. We ordered a pot of tea (tea is free in the bedrooms) and they charged us 9 dollars for some hot water and a lipton tea bag. I questioned this on check out and pointed out we had spent over 750 for two nights in the hotel and I couldn't believe we were being charged for that- the receptionist wasn't interested and didn't knock it off the bill.

Our overall feeling leaving this hotel was that we were ripped off, the staff were really unpleasant, and that they were trying to extract as much money as possible off us as opposed to offering any sort of experience. I don't normally write reviews like this but I was really upset to spend the money we did and come away feeling like that. We would have gotten better service in a hostel.

Dear DaveandCathy
It was great to talk to you directly and obtain your feedback first-hand.
Clearly, little things can add up to big things sometimes, and it is disappointing for us as well, that your expectations were not completely met.
Thank you once again, for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Mountain Heritage at some time in the near future.

We certainly enjoyed the two night stay at the Mountain Heritage. The ambience was very nice and comfortable. The first morning the breakfast was great as we were given table service and delivered a hearty hot breakfast. On the second morning being Sunday there was a help yourself buffet. mmm not so good as usual the warmers only keep the food just warm ( if that) so our hearty breakfast was quite cold. A shame they do this as it only lowers the service back to a common motel breakfast or not so good hotel. I spend half my working time in hotels and motels and hate getting buffet breakfasts as they are always cold. I think if they stay with personal service it keeps up the quality we expect when paying the price. Dinner in the restaurant was very nice especially with the piano player supplying back ground music.

Room Tip: Heritage room without a balcony is value. Not worth paying extra for balcony , especially in winter.

Dear Gari W
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments.
It is pleasing you enjoyed your two night stay with us, including dinner and our wonderful resident piano player, Alan Johnson, on Saturday night.
Thank you also for your feedback on breakfast, as you are now aware we do a full a la carte breakfast most mornings, and at peak times we provide a full buffet breakfast. I appreciate your point regarding buffets, we do also offer eggs cooked to order, which you may not have noticed, this helps provide an additional service to complement the buffet, as some guests prefer this service. We provide the buffet so the majority of guests can eat at a pace they prefer, as many are keen to exit quickly to explore the beautiful blue mountains.
Once again, thank you for your comments, they are gold for us, especially from experienced travellers such as yourself.

I stayed here 6 years ago and again in May 2014. It is really diificult to find nice affordable accomadation in the Blue Mountains but for both times I stayed here it as been an exceklent choice. The hotel is beautiful and we were upgraded to a mountain view room, which had amazing views over the mountains and I would actually pay to secure this room if I was going to stay again for special occasion. The room seemed like it had been fairlg recently refurbished and the electric blankets and heating were great for a cold weekend. There was no lift but the staff were really friendly and did offer to help with our bags. The staires were only really problematic for my partner who had just completed the 100k Wilderness walk through the blue Mountains! Otherwise it is loveky old winding staircase from the lounge with open log fire up to the rooms. Continental breakfast was included and was fine for us as we wanted a nice big lunch, otherwise for a small fee you coukd have a cooked breakfast. Few minutes walk into town, and if you are coming from the train station there is a path the whole way, less than 5 min walk. I woukd definately stay here again. Previously we have stayed in B&B that have been tired and run down. We looked to stay at one of the resorts but these are twice the price, breakfast is not included and they are not walking distance to the town for dinner at night. We stayed on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed, butotherwise this is also suppose to be very nice with the same beautiful view overthe mountains that we had from our room. My only negative comment was that in the evening the water was only luke warm in our shower despite leaving it running for a while. This was not a problem in the morning and I never called reception about it so in fairness to them maybe it was easily fixed.

Room Tip: Mountain view room is beautiful

Dear Jenniveve200
Thank you for your wonderful review.
It is always pleasing to be able to share such positive comments with our staff.
The views are indeed amazing. and our location is certainly private, but within a short stroll of the main street of Katoomba, and all it has to offer.
We did have a minor teething problem with our new water heating system maintaining temperature, but when we detected this, we were able to correct it immediately.
Once again, thank you for your feedback, and we hope we can welcome you back again in the near future.

The building is amazing - go light on luggage as there are lots of stairs.
Restaurant a must - food beautiful.
Breakfast is average - cold meat looked like they had passed there use by date.
Worth a visit

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with a view - you don't want to be stuck at the back

Dear Summer200955
Thank you for your review,
It is pleasing to hear you enjoyed your stay, and your dinner in our Jamison Views Restaurant.
Please be assured the cold meats served are fresh and definitely not past their use-by date.
I trust you enjoyed the rest of the breakfast buffet offerings.
Yes it is good advice to book a "view room", notwithstanding the views are equally enjoyable from our lounge, cocktail bar and restaurant.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

Wonderful relaxing weekend at the Mountain Heritage in Katoomba.

Comfortable room, relaxed vibe and pleasant people. Was fun on Friday night, with the piano playing, a wedding and various celebrations... good fun and lovely fire etc., It was cold and pouring with rain, so being inside with such a convivial crowd was great. Altogether an old style comfy vibe

However, make sure you don't stay on a Sunday night as we did, as the whole place shuts down and you are left (if the weather is inclement) forlornly gazing out of the window.... The view is wonderful, but no food, not even a packet of nuts! The snacks in our room weren't replenished so we couldn't retreat there either.

The room was good though, with a spa bath and comfy bed!

Room Tip: Rooms are all of a good standard.

Dear Liz W
Thank you for your comments. It is pleasing you enjoyed your long weekend stay with us.
Yes we did indeed have a very busy time with many events, and a well patronised restaurant on both Friday & Saturday. Our resident pianist Alan Johnson certainly adds to the relaxing but fun atmosphere. Sometimes when business slows, we take the opportunity to give the staff a rest, and close the restaurant, as we did on the Sunday evening.
I apologise that the snacks in your room were not replenished, please be assured this is not typical of our service. We hope this will not deter you from staying with us again, when next you travel to the beautiful blue mountains.
