“Great Blue Mountains stay”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

We stayed here for two nights and just wished we could have stayed a bit longer. From the moment we arrived we kept getting lovely surprises, like the free upgrade to the charming cottage instead of the room we'd booked, the superbly cooked breakfast in the morning and the exotic birds feeding right outside. Peter and Suzanne were very friendly and helpful and really made you feel at home. The location was also excellent, with Echo Point and the Three Sisters just a 10-15 minute walk away. I'd also like to mention the restaurant almost next doors: Pins on Lurline. Fantastic food for a very reasonable price - highly recommended to go for dinner at least once during your stay (and just a one minute walk from the guest house - what more could you want?).

We would definitely recommend Lurline House to anyone wishing to stay in the Blue Mountains!

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful weekend staying at Lurline House at Katoomba.
From the moment we entered the premises, the owners could not have been more helpful. This included a cup of coffee and cake. Nothing was a problem. Our room was at the front of the house which allowed us to use the verandah for an afternoon drink. They advised us on where we could have a wonderful meal to celebrate our 41st Wedding Anniversary. Their recommendation was "Pins" on Lurline and it was fantastic.
We returned to the B&B after our dinner and had a complimentary Port and Chocolates.
The breakfast is magnificent. We have just returned from an overseas holiday and the breakfast equalled if not bettered what we had in London staying at The Thistle Marble Arch.
The owners, Peter and Susan are there for you, but not intrusive.
This was our first ever B&B experience and it was fabulous.
I would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Room Tip: The two rooms at the front give you the opportunity to sit on the verandah in the evening and have a...

Perfectly located on a main road between the shops/cafes and the start of the bush walking tracks, Lurline House was surprisingly quiet at night and my room was at the front of the house. The owners are friendly, helpful, not intrusive and full of information about the area. The choices for breakfast are almost overwhelming. Brewed coffee is refilled for you, more toast offered. I loved that the owners make it feel like a feast at breakfast, not the bare minimum.

My room was very clean, the chocolates on the pillow (new ones each day) were a lovely touch, the bathroom huge with complimentary products and it was great to be able to sit on the veranda and watch the world go by. The lounge at night was good for sitting and reading or chatting to other guests.

The negatives? If I had to be particular: the 4 poster bed blocked the light in the main room, the wardrobe was awkward to get into and not big enough for coat hangers and the walls don't block noise from the next room. On this last point, I don't know how it could be changed without losing the charm and character of this weatherboard house.

Overall, it was an enjoyable visit and I'd definitely recommend Lurline House as a place to stay in the mountains. In fact, I'm planning my next visit already.

We had a wonderful experience here for three nights before heading back to the UK.

It is perfectly placed for walking, being able to either go left or right at the Three Sisters which is only a 5-10 minute walk away.

Peter and Suzanne were wonderful hosts and the breakfasts cooked in front of you are superb. The guesthouse is spotless and you can tell they take a real pride in their job.

I would highly recommend Lurline House to anyone wanting to explore the Blue Mountains for a few days.

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. It had a nice little yard to park your car, a homely atmosphere, a lovely garden and the best hosts in Peter & Suzanne! If I were to come back to Blue Mountains, it will definitely be this hotel. The hosts were so warm and friendly that they would take the time to speak to all guests during breakfast, advise them on how to make the best of their time and ensure our stay was in every way wonderful. The rooms were well appointed, tidy, clean and stocked with amenities/utilities.

Room Tip: Ask for the room that is single-standing (not part of the main house), as it helped to get the lugga...

We stayed at Lurline house in August this year on our honeymoon. Peter kindly upgraded us to the cottage which was spacious and had all facilities needed. Both Peter and Sue are very friendly and most helpful with local knowledge.
Location was the best a short walk to town and the 3 sisters.
Breakfast was marvelous with plenty of choices to choose from and the porridge was the best.
Highly recommend to anyone staying in Katoomba area.

Lurline House is a bit quirky which adds to its attraction eg four poster beds. Both Suzanne and Peter are most helpful with the local knowledge and the breakfasts that they produce are wonderful. We have visited before and we will again.
