3 Sisters Motel
Ranked #5 of 15 Hotels in Katoomba
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Booking 3 Sisters was made very easy as it is one of those rare hotels whose room rate doesn't increase as soon as you include your children i.e. we paid $180 per night for a family room, and we didn't have to pay extra per child (we had three small children). This included a continental breakfast which I thought was very nice. After arriving in Katoomba by train from Sydney we decided to walk to the motel, and even though it was on the far side of town, we thought it was a nice walk. Once there we were quite comfortable in our room and then it was a very easy walk to see the Three Sisters, and to Scenic World. At the advice of the hotel staff we went to dinner at the RSL who provided a free shuttle to and from the hotel, which was really convenient and the food there was excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hop on Hop off bus stopped around the corner from the hotel so it was very easy to access.

Very good value accommodation in excellent location.

We were assigned room 1 which we found to be quite noisy early morning as we were adjoining reception/breakfast area.

The room was a decent size and had everything you need but although dated there was no wear and tear on any of the furnishings. A comfortable bed, fridge, TV, telephone, substantial wardrobe and good sized bathroom. Hairdryers are available from reception and I have to say it was the best hairdryer I have ever used!!

The lady who looked after our room was most attentive and asked if there was anything we needed. I found this to be a lovely touch - thank you.

Parking is superb - right outside of your room and allocated to your room number. Great idea.

A lovely walk to the 3 Sisters and really only does take minutes plus a bus stop right outside of the motel.

I would recommend this motel but please remember it is a motel and not a hotel so you are not getting all the extras but you are not paying for them either.

We stayed in the self contained cottage, which is right next door to the motel. It is old, but well maintained and well set up for two couples or two families travelling together. It has a lovely verandah out the back where you can sit to eat a meal and enjoy the wonderful mountain birdlife in the back yard. The only drawback was the floorboards in the kitchen and dining room were loose and very squeaky so it was hard to sneak out to the bathroom at night without everyone hearing you!

Stayed here over easter, we were in room 3 for one night. Lady owner seemed lovely.
Fridge wasn't turned on when we got in room which was really annoying as we had an esky full of things from our travels. Doors open up onto bed.
Wifi password is advertised everywhere and is free but you can only get one bar of signal if you're lucky and we were in one of the closest rooms to the main building! Paid for hot breakfast. Expecting a small buffet, but instead got the choice of eggs, bacon and tomatoes or there was some bread for toast and peaches. Wouldn't recommend paying for hot breakfast. I'm sure there are other nice locations for breakfast in Katoomba. Also, shower kept going hot and cold throughout both mine and my partners showers. Which was a let down.

Also, just a helpful tip. Driveway is VERY steep for a car - Wouldn't recommend anyone elderly or that has any mobility issues to stay here.

We stayed for one night over the Easter weekend in a standard room. The room was basic, the front door opening onto the bed, a couple of bedside tables, a fridge and kettle, and at the back of the room, a wardrobe and bathroom, with a shower. The room was tired looking, but clean. The main reason for choosing this motel was its location, being a few minutes walk only from Echo Point. Be warned though - if travelling by train, it is a long walk from the train station. The restaurant was shut for evening meals so we had to walk back into town for food, though we were told that they could organise transport to RSL or get pizza etc delivered. They were very helpful.
Overall, it is a basic room, ideal for its location rather than its home comforts.

Excellent stay. Motel is a 5 minute walk from 3 Sister lookout. Upon arrival we were given lots of helpful tips for seeing the sites in the area. The restaurant list great too-- {we chose Rene's Pizza, great dinner!} Room was tidy and accommodating. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the retro feel of the motel built in 1963, but the decor is a bit tired. The bathroom especially could use some TLC. Triple sheeted beds were advertised, but not in our room. We had hoped to eat in the restaurant, but it is only open on weekends. They should let guests know
ahead of check-in.
It is in a great location, a short to Echo Point and the Three Sisters.
