Stayed here on Saturday night in room 8 I found for the price we paid the accommodation was great! Comfy bed, electric blanket that we didn't need as plenty of blankets on the bed. There was also a coil heater that warmed the room up quite quickly. Bathroom was neat and tidy. Good sized fridge also. In-laws stayed in room 12 which was bigger and brighter with the same amenities. Breakfast in the morning was (FREE) continental and I found everything I loved! choice of white or brown bread selection of cereals and condiments. We walked to the town on Saturday night which took about 15-20mins. Staff were also very nice. Also very quiet did not hear a thing! free undercover parking also included.

Found this little Buget hotel pictures on their web site very deceiving what looks to be a fairly modern Boutique hotel (Not sure what the word Boutique means) Yes it sure was different inside to outside. Directly behind the reception desk is a very modern beakfast/meals area but from there it is just all old. The carpets were old and in need of repair or at least a good clean. The room was very small and the worst part was the shower bath area for older people climbing in and out of the bath/shower is a nightmare as there is a 2ft (600Mm) step up and in and also to get out anyone less mobile or with short legs would find this difficult. The TV was old and small and the remote control was broke in half and stuck together with sticky tape to keep it working. There was undercover parking but to get to rooms on the first floor you had to lug the suitcases up 2 floors. I suppose you can say you get what you pay for and the location (close to echo point - 5 minute walk) but I have stayed in many buget hotels that looked and felt a lot better inside. On a positive Continental breakfast is included in the price and you do have undercover parking.

La Maison is a budget-class hotel that bears more resemblance to a large B&B. Situated in Katoomba it is right in the middle of the touristy part of the Blue Mountains, but for me and my friends other options were either fully booked or out of reach budget-wise. That said, we all found La Maision to be a perfectly good option for our one night stay on a budget ($170 for two double rooms). On arrival, one of our rooms had a slightly smoky stench but we were swiftly relocated to another room as per our request. Both of our rooms were far from new and flashy, but offered (as per above) more of a B&B setting. Everything was perfectly functional although the aesthetics were a bit so so.

Breakfast was included in the rate but with a scarce assortment of toast, jam/vegemite and some fruit it was hardly something that truly added value to our stay.

All in all La Maision is close to the attractions (Echo Point, etc) in Katoomba and offers a cozy stay with a roof and four walls, but there are better options in the Blue Mountains region.
