What a feat of engineering to create these 3 rides so that mere mortals like us can enjoy the scenery and get close to nature without breaking a sweat?! The glide 270m over treetops for spectacular views of the Katoomba falls, Orphan rock, Mount Solitary and The Three Sisters was remarkable.
It was an overcast, cold, windy winter's day. The strong winds and biting cold left me breathless, literally, as I willed my fingers to work the camera so I could capture a fraction of nature's marvels at the lookout point just 1 minute's walk from the Skyway station.
The railway ride was next and though my mind knew it wasn't a roller coaster, when the carriage started tipping and I caught a glimpse of how steep the track down was, I hung on for dear life and willed my stomach not to flutter. The walk around the rainforest was very pleasant and we spotted several lyrebirds in close range.
The cableway way back up to the top was a relief, no need to climb uphill! It wasn't as dramatic as the other two rides but an interesting experience seeing the waterfall and escarpments from a different angle.
Definitely worth a visit. Saves time driving from one lookout point to other even though the atmosphere can get a little 'touristy' with groups arriving by the hordes. The tagline on the advertisements said 'accessible wilderness'. I'd have to wholeheartedly agree with that.
Wow! Thank you for taking the time to provide such great feedback. I am delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your day.
WOW, what a fantastic time we had. We had not been up there for a few years and all the improvements they have made up there is outstanding, especially to the NEW Scenic Railway & the Jamison Valley with the new boardwalks. When we went it was a little cool but that did NOT stop us from having a GREAT time. Everyone should go there who have not been there at least for a few years. You will be amazed by ALL the outstanding changes that they have made there.
Even our friends from overseas enjoyed them selves very much.
Arriving at the Blue Mountains the views are all around you but taking the cable tram down to the valley floor truly extended the experience. We held on tight as the tram quickly came down the mountain side at near vertical, it was fun for sure. You enjoy walking around the wood trails at your pace and have options for ascending back to the top.
As pricey as it is, it's a must do if you visiting the Blue Mountains.
The Scenic Railway was part of a tour we were on and unfortunately, due to the schedule we had to keep, we were not able to fully experience all that this lovely place has to offer. I am truly sorry that we could not have stayed there longer. The scenery is breathtaking; the various modes of getting around the park made it very easy to navigate around in order to see all the different beautiful places. This is definitely worth a visit!
