Katoomba must be Vintage Shop and Bric a Brac headquarters. At an exaggerated estimation, I reckon that half of the shop fronts on Katoomba Street are dedicated to recycling pre-loved objects, from old fashioned manual fly sprays to $10,000 a pop life sized painted statues holding up candelabras. (The rest are restaurants and cafes). This particular Emporium does a raging trade, maybe because it is located almost next door to two icons: The Carrington Hotel on one side and the Paragon Café on the other. This ensures that there is plenty of passing trade. But, if you wander down Katoomba Street you will come across its brothers and sisters. You have to wonder how so much used clothing, items, books can come together so efficiently in one location. The detail of what you can lay your hands on is astonishing. If you ever though you would never again see a particular piece of technology or fashion or publication, think again. So, if you are into top end of the market recyclables, this is going to be your first stop. Take you wallet and your plastic card and prepare for some fun.
