It was a verrry cold, wet, foggy day in Katoomba. With no view of anything to be had, we drove into Lilianfels resort with the intention of having a 'look see' at Darley's. We liked what we saw and while it was very tempting to drive back to our cosy B&B in Leura and dine within walking distance, we decided to make a reservation for dinner that evening. Returning with great expectations, we were seated close to the open fire place. The Venison & Lamb mains we ordered arrived nicely presented and cooked to perfection. Our choice of Quince Tarte-Tatin for dessert was delicious and the flavours of the accompaniments was well balanced. The wine list was very good and all of the staff we dealt with were attentive & professional. In all, we had a very pleasant evening and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Darly's to family and friends. The chefs gift of his home made granola was a nice touch on our departure.

“Much anticipated night out.”

Beautiful building, but not well lit at front entrance. No one to greet us initially. Our table was in back corner of verandah next to steel frame for storing window panels. Very expensive food, well presented but a bit 'quirky'. Small servings, but adequate. Suggest you check the menu to decide if it's for you.

“Packed of goodness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

We have a tendency to be very sceptical with Australian restaurants. Usually overpriced, mediocre food, and so so service. However we are very impressed with Darley's. The atmosphere is lovely, a typical bluemountain historical house, with two fireplaces and chandeliers. The seatings are arranged so each table has its own privacy. We opted for a three course menu. Chef provided an amouche bouche of gelatinous cucumber and scallop which was very refreshing. Entree was Slow Cooked Octopus, Spanner Crab, Cuttlefish, Abalone Pearl, Romesco, Rosnay Olives, Crisp Potato, Vinaigrette. Presented beautifully and tasted fresh with ample quantity. The abalone pearls tasted fabulous. For mains we opted for duck and venison. Again the quantity and presentation exceeded our expectation. Venison was cooked medium rare to perfection and duck was so tender and tasty. The dessert were Quince Tarte-tatin, Salt Orange Foam, Orange Cardamon Ice Cream,
Toasted almonds and peach sorbet, black pepper crumble, rhubarb and strawberry granita. Both had a very interesting texture and taste. The later was more to our liking due to the mix of sweet and salty taste from the sorbet and crumble, complementing the sour rhubarb taste.
We had coffee and were presented with complimentary petit four of almond flour cakes with raspberries. That didn't end like that... The chef also provided each of us a small pack of granola as take home gifts! How was it?
The service was attentive without being intrusive. Pleasant!
Highly recommended for a visit at least once in a lifetime :)

“Good Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

Very nice meal. Restaurant was practically empty and we asked to sit nearer the fire but were flat out refused because a newly married couple were sitting there, he then told us to book it next time we came?. Surely there is more than one table near the fireplace?. Food was good but waiter seemed to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder through out the evening. He cheered up tho once we left him a large tip.
