We stayed 3 nights midweek in this charming old guesthouse. The rooms were very clean and comfortable as were the beds. The dining room was charming and the wait staff very friendly and helpful. There are lovely old fireplaces in all the common rooms and some very nice antique furniture. It's only a 2 minute walk to the main street with it's many restaurants. If your travelling by train it's right across from the railway station . It was a nice experience to stay in such an "old world" atmosphere. Very relaxing. The reception staff are so helpful and make you feel very welcome. Also on site car parking at the back Hope I will return for a few more day's sometime.

Room Tip: We had a front room and as it's next to the railway line a little noisy. Probably rooms at the b...

We drove up for the day not planing to stay for the night and as it's started to get dark we thought
we should stay.
we cam across the Metropole which is in great location and thought to walk in. Must say that the inside is far more inviting then the outside.
staff were very friendly and inviting, rooms were clean and facilities were great to sit down relax and gave a chat.

We had a nice time visiting Katoomba, the Metropole Guesthouse was clean and staff friendly. The one thing that let it down was our room which was small and on suite had tiles missing from floor. If we go back would ask about room before booking. Also the window rattled with the wind.

Stayed there for the weekend, d.b &b, Thursday to sunday Deal was first night free, no dinner or breakfast. cost was $306.00 per night for other two nights as Saturday was yule fest night. Christmas in August, the meal was disgusting, half a slice of rolled ham, half a slice of overcooked turkey and some vegies, the meal the night before was just as bad. breakfast was not to bad, not great. Rooms were old, furniture looked as if it came from op shop, extra blanket for bed had cig, holes in it. they also charges us extra 10 dollars a night for an upgrade room. When we paid the bill we were not even asked if we had good stay. Would no go there again

Room Tip: do not go for upgrade you are opp the railway and hear the freight trains at night

Dear John O,
After reading your review I am surprised that you didn't come to reception with your complaints, but, chose instead to say nothing...
We do value all feedback as we strive to insure all our guests have a welcoming and enjoyable stay.
Your major complaint appears to be with the $304.00 per person, two night weekend package with bonus free night (accommodation only) and room serviced daily - which included 2 x full hot breakfasts, 1 x 3 course dinner, 1 x 4 course Yulefest dinner with entertainment (all meals advertised as set menus) plus a 3 day pass - Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop on hop off bus) that visits all the major tourist attractions. This was an all inclusive package, not as you have stated for $306.00 per night.
I was in the guesthouse the weekend you stayed and we had nothing but excellent feed back from all the guests, therefore your review has come as quite a surprise!
The Metropole is an olde worlde guesthouse with decor to suit the era, so again your comments that the furnishings came from an opshop with burns in the blankets seem unfounded, I went through the room and couldn't find any such problem.
You had upgraded your room for an extra charge as this room overlooked Kingsford Smith Park, was a larger room with sofa.
We have been offering these packages for years and have a lot of repeat guests who constantly praise our establishment and all that we offer.

It is unfortunate that the Metropole wasn't for you, I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us but I am confident that if you had mentioned your problems during your stay, I personally would have acted immediately to ensure that your stay with us was an enjoyable one.
Thank you once again for your comments
