Dinner at The Rooster was the highlight of our trip to the Blue Mountains and one of the culinary highlights of our whole trip to NSW. The otherwise unassuming building was beatiful and cozy inside and the ultra professional but casual waitstaff made us feel right at home.
The menu was not expensive and was classic French. We started a chicken salad and a goats cheese tartin. The chicken was overshadowed slightly by the tartin, which was something to remember, delicate and tasty. We had an inexpensive and very tasty barbera blend which complemented ous meals well. For mains we had chicken breast stuffed with sundried tomato and Brie and veal wrapped in prosciutto. Both were absolutely amazing. Hearty but not too heavy. Tasty, tender and could not be improved.
For dessert gran marnier crepes and chocolate fudge cake topped off a great evening.
Absolutely faultless food, setting and service. I would return to the Blue Mountains just to dine here again... Maybe next time we'll stay at the attached Jameson guesthouse...
