Very nice and quiet location. The management is very helpful. Back gate to property makes it a short walk to the shops. Close to the Harbour and sea pool. Rooms are kept clean. Nice place for a retreat from the kids.

Stayed: March 2014, travelled as a couple

There are two Ulladulla hotels north (i.e. on the Sydney side) of the CBD and another on the southern outskirts (closer to Bateman's Bay) but the only ones in the CBD are the Harbour Royal and one other, but the latter is higher up the hill, albeit with good views, but the Harbour Royal wins hands down because it is right in the very heart of the town and by far the closest to shops, restaurants and all the other facilities that this tourist-oriented harbour township boasts. It's also the quietest (and I've stayed at both of them many times, so I speak from experience), and that's because it is 100 metres away from the highway (the main road bisects the town), shielded by sops, an hotel and a huge council car park that can be busy by day but quiet as a graveyard by night. The rooms at the Harbour Royal, under the careful management of resident manager husband-and-wife Karen and Matt Leggatt, are constantly improved and maintained. Those facing north catch the sun and the upper floor (of two) also harbour views. Those facing east (there are three floors) catch the harbour on the first and second floors and boast comfortable balconies - as do all of the units. We prefer Apt #4 because it's at the end, hence it's the quietest, it's a two-bedroom apartment with sofa, kitchenette, two televisions, and dining table with china and cutlery for four, and great views of the never-ending activities on this working harbour. If you book for three or more days you'll receive a complimentary continental breakfast (apple or orange juice, one of four cereals, one of two breads, all the condiments and butter/margarine, and tea or percolated coffee) which you take in the quaintly-named "The Nook", adjoining the Reception area. There is a heated indoor swimming pool and an outdoor barbecue. Best of all, you are literally one minute's stroll through the back gate to four restaurants (Italian, Chinese, Thai, Fish) and one hotel, or any number more up and down the highway three-five minutes stroll away, so it's perfectly located. If you can, try to book to include the second Sunday of the month because that's when they have the Harbour Markets, featuring local produce (especially honey and pickles/chutneys), bric-a-brac, clothing, flowers, shrubs and trees, leather goods and so much more. The Harbour Royal offers discounts for long stays, Seniors, motoring organisation members and special interest/commercial groups but, having stayed there many times - and at different times - over the years, I've NEVER seen any bus groups there. Highly recommended! [If you need to access a launderette, there is one diagonally opposite through the car park where the auto car wash is located, left as you exit the back gate)/

Room Tip: Upstairs (single/double) rooms facing north get the sun and the harbour views, as also rooms facing east on the first and second floors. The best two-bedroom apartment is #4.

My significant other and I had the most beautiful time, this place is lovely!

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the room to be pristine and surprisingly great value! :)

It was so majestic it didn't even feel like a motel!

I would definitely recommend at least a few nights here!! :)

Having stayed at this hotel ..if you can put up with long dark hairs in the bathroom and in the shower. The broken glass mirror. The room not been made up. The clean towels just put on the bed. Then this hotel is for you. The guy at the desk was about as friendly as an undertaker.

Room Tip: keep away ....
