We just had a short break with our family - parents and 6 year old child. I'd rate the Gemini resort as 'good'.
The best parts:
-Nice pool with separate shallower area for smaller kids and a little water slide. The water on the slide was off on the day we arrived (fixing it?) so the slide wasn't as fun and the pool looked a bit dirty. Much better the second day.
-Good location - direct access to the beach, some good cafes and takeaway joints nearby
-Spacious apartments, huge kitchen, lovely balconies and views.
The not great parts:
-whole resort was a bit dated. The pool area (faded, sagging sun loungers and pool can use an update), apartments (bathrooms need a refresh) , lobby. However it was all clean and neat - so especially for a family with kids this could be a plus because you aren't afraid of wrecking immaculate decor.
-I would not recommend the Nepalese restaurant downstairs. We ordered lunch at the pool one day - admittedly it was about 2pm so maybe we were outside their expected lunch times. Food was hideously greasy (?put the chips in to oil that was too cold?) , my beef salad (most expensive thing on the lunch menu for $21) was the size of a side salad and nothing special. Service was lacking - we waited forever and had to go back to ask for things like forks/napkins. We avoided it for the rest of our stay.
So, overall, if you can get a good rate this is a quiet, relaxing, family friendly place. Don't expect too much and probably a bit boring for families with older kids.
