We stayed in Unit 83. Nice clean white bathrooms. Large heated pool. Kids park next door great for 7 year olds. Shop & takeaways just across the street. Large apartment, just needs some block out curtains for the bedroom with single beds and a décor update. No roads to cross to get to the water. Very relaxing......

We just had a short break with our family - parents and 6 year old child. I'd rate the Gemini resort as 'good'.
The best parts:
-Nice pool with separate shallower area for smaller kids and a little water slide. The water on the slide was off on the day we arrived (fixing it?) so the slide wasn't as fun and the pool looked a bit dirty. Much better the second day.
-Good location - direct access to the beach, some good cafes and takeaway joints nearby
-Spacious apartments, huge kitchen, lovely balconies and views.

The not great parts:
-whole resort was a bit dated. The pool area (faded, sagging sun loungers and pool can use an update), apartments (bathrooms need a refresh) , lobby. However it was all clean and neat - so especially for a family with kids this could be a plus because you aren't afraid of wrecking immaculate decor.
-I would not recommend the Nepalese restaurant downstairs. We ordered lunch at the pool one day - admittedly it was about 2pm so maybe we were outside their expected lunch times. Food was hideously greasy (?put the chips in to oil that was too cold?) , my beef salad (most expensive thing on the lunch menu for $21) was the size of a side salad and nothing special. Service was lacking - we waited forever and had to go back to ask for things like forks/napkins. We avoided it for the rest of our stay.

So, overall, if you can get a good rate this is a quiet, relaxing, family friendly place. Don't expect too much and probably a bit boring for families with older kids.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up - lovely views and probably a bit quieter (street cleaning machines start ear...

Dear Kiwi&Yank,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on Gemini Resort. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Regarding the pool, the committee has come to the decision that a full pool renovation is due. A landscape architect will be appointed in the next few weeks and a full pool and pool area renovation is planed for next year. Our sun loungers are currently being re-fitted with new canvas material. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed our fantastic location and spacious apartments. Regarding the restaurant, it is privately owned and perhaps it would be best if you could review on their 'Gurkhali' business page as they are not affiliated with Gemini Resort. Thank you again for your review and we hope to welcome you back again soon.
Kind Regards,
The Gemini Resort Team

This was our 3rd stay at Gemini. With 3 kids under 5yrs old it suits us perfectly. The apartments are BIG and not fussy, plenty of room to spread out, and solid which helps when you are worried about kids noise escaping through the neighbours walls. The location is spot on for young families - beach at doorstep (no big waves for the kids and fishing for dad), plenty of footpaths for walks and bike rides with two playgrounds very close by, there are some perfect local shops for supplies and takeaway as well as a bakery and a medical centre - just in case! The pool is the standout, we had friends staying elsewhere paying a lot more who had pool envy for its size and its warmth.
We are looking forward to staying here again. If you have a young family this resort is a no-brainer as far as value for money and ease and location go. You will park and not need to use the car or go anywhere else. Pack the bikes and the sand toys and enjoy!

Dear Liz A, We really appreciate your review on Gemini Resort, thank you for taking the time to write one. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our large apartments, heated pool and absolute beachfront location. Gemini Resort has been a favorite for families throughout the years. We have parents who once themselves came here on holiday as kids, now bringing their own children for holidays. Certainly a great place for fishing and bikes as you mentioned, there is plenty to see and do around Caloundra. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back to Gemini Resort soon. Kind Regards, The Gemini Resort Team.

Staying in a one bedroom apartment in the North tower on the 5th floor (Unit 41) provided ample room with a generous balcony and a great view overlooking the passage. The only drawback we found was the annoying tone/accent anouncing which floor the lift was stopping at. Have stayed here perviously and will do so again in the future.

We booked a two bedroom apartment on the 8th Floor, South Tower (#66) with uninterrupted views of the tip of Bribie Island, and of Kings beach and surrounding beaches.

The apartment is huge with a master bedroom which has an en suite, a double bed, flat screen tv, a huge window and a door that leads to the balcony. The second bedroom has two single beds (the room a little small) with robes and plenty of drawers and a wardrobe. The second bathroom has a shower and a bath. A separate toilet next to the laundry, the laundry has everything you need such as washing machine, dryer, iron, etc. There's a huge clothes horse on the balcony which I used all the time, a big plus especially when drying clothes and towels outside.
The kitchen is very big with everything you need, granite bench tops and electric stove and oven.
The dining area and lounge room was very spacious with a big sofa, the TV is flat screen with pay tv channels at no extra cost.
My kids loved the huge space where they could run around inside and the large balcony which you can access from all the bedrooms.
The railings are high enough so children cannot climb over, but we still kept a close eye on them when they were outside. If they were outside we would go out as well, other times we would just close the heavy doors so they couldn't open.
The resort facilities included a large heated swimming pool with a small slide, spa, sauna (I didn't go in it and am not sure where it is located), tennis court, BBQ, a games room with everything big and little kids would enjoy, they even provide novels and children's books. There is a Nepalese restaurant on the ground floor which opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We spent a lot of time in the pools and spa, we didn't venture out to the beach as much because the kids loved the slide and the pool was heated to around 26 degrees. We would stay most nights until they closed it around 9pm (though there were a few nights, the security came out around 15 minutes early which was a big nuisance, I had to tell him that he was early and that we still had time for the spa).

Now for the negatives, the utensils and kitchen appliances need to be changed, cheap and nasty, and seems out of place for such a nice apartment. Everything from cutlery to the toaster/kettle looked like they were all purchased at K-mart and wasn't cleaned properly from previous guests.
The oven door didn't close properly so some of the heat escaped while it was on, the temperature (writing) on the dials have disappeared so I didn't know what temperature the oven was on, I had to guess which resulted in burnt food, not good enough! There is no grill in the oven or a portable bbq on the balcony, what a shame, we would have enjoyed cooking out while enjoying the beautiful views.
The shower door in the en suite is dangerous (glass) which does not close properly so water escapes and makes the bathroom floor saturated (my daughter actually slipped, luckily she didn't hit her head on the glass door and only had a couple of bruises.
Beach or pool towels would have been nice as 4 bath towels is not enough for a family of 5, just as well I did purchase some beach towels when we were in the Gold Coast a week earlier, so we used those as well.
Having said all those negatives above, there are still more positives and I can honestly say I have and will recommend this resort to friends and family.
We didn't have much in contact with staff/reception but when we did, they were all very professional and friendly.

The resort is situated right on the beach with access (through secured gates) straight to the calm waters of Golden Beach. No roads to cross, a public park with playgrounds is situated on the left side of the resort, there's a walking path along the esplanade where most of the nicer resorts and restaurants are located. There are no shops a long the esplanade, you have to drive to the closest supermarket, about 5 minutes up the road by car.
A secured under ground car park is provided for each apartment (numbered), only one car per space.

Golden Beach is a quite area, ideal for those with young children or those that want to relax and unwind.
I would definitely stay here again if we ever return to the Sunshine Coast!

Room Tip: Amazing views on the 8th floor, South tower seems to be a lot quieter than the North tower (which is...

Dear Sealay, Thank you very much for taking the time to review us on Tripadvisor. It is fantastic to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate your positive comments regarding our large apartments, heated pool and games room. We will have a look at the glass shower door to see what is stopping it from closing properly. According to the Body Corporate By Laws BBQ's are not allowed on balconies, so this is out of our control. Our staff are always on hand to attend to any problems that you have while you are staying with us. There are two grocery shops on Golden beach, right across the road from Gemini Resort, one of which is called Spar. Thank you again and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Staying at Gemini again this weekend. Nice, big family unit - up high with terrific views. Kitchen has everything and eating on the balcony with that view of the lights in the distance is just great. Spread out in the unit, easy to forget there are other people in the place. Can see down and watch people in the pool. Nice and safe and secure. Good security of the complex.

Room Tip: Go up nice and high for good views. Family unit is great for a family - or two or three couples. Che...

Dear Marika512, Thank you for reviewing Gemini Resort on Tripadvisor. It's great to hear that you have stayed with us twice already in four months! We are delighted to hear that you enjoy our panoramic views and central location. Our apartments are quite large compared to some of the newer resorts on the coast, which allows for spacious balconies as well. We appreciate your time and we hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back in the near future. Kind Regards, the Gemini Resort Team.
