“The perfect place to stay in a beautiful location - oh what a weekend!”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

We had a brilliant weekend away and couldn't fault our experience at Rhumba. The units are spacious, they all the comforts of home and more than you'd normally expect in a holiday resort. The bathrooms are large, the bedrooms spacious and what a kitchen! The staff were friendly, efficient and extremely helpful for our late arrival even a reliable recommendation to a good nearby restaurant (Italian cafe in the building) and the pizzas were great!
The building is new and comfortable with beach views if you want them, a coffee machine in every unit, a great spa pool, a bar onsite, hire bikes and even an ice machine for guests!
The moment we arrived at Rhumba we wanted to stay for weeks, not just the weekend. It was a brilliant weekend away with our family for some R&R and we're glad we chose Rhumba. Sorry to rave, but it was our first time to Caloundra and - oh what a weekend!

hI ,i stayed there last year for a romantic getawqy with my husband, and the view was terrible, we asked for a view of the water and got trees instead....
i am pretty sure my husband is surpirsing me in a few weeks for my 40th birthday, and we are staying there (maybe),i just hope if we do stay there that we have a view this time, there is nothing better thatn sitting on your balcony sipping wine with a view to look at... it is a long needed break away from 4 teenage children :)

The resort was very comfortable, it was clean and new, the staff both freindly and courteous all in all I would recommend this hotel it is 5 star quality. My booking was made only an hour before we arrived, they made sure we had a number for the night manager which was awaiting our arrival, they gave great advice on eating houses, which were close by. You are right on the beach. Under cover car parking. The rooms where apartment, it had its own laundry and kitchen both spotless with new inclusions, even with its own coffee maker. The bed was comfortable and linen good quality.

This is a new resort with wonderful views of Pumicestone Passage from the upper levels. Unfortunately like many apartments in Coloundra the units face almost directly south which means no sunshine whatsoever in the rooms or balcony. Even on the Sunshine Coast sun is a must in winter. The units are well furnished with modern decor but really who need a subwoofer which can be heard thru the wall .We believe each unit has one of these monsters!
Other than this we enjoyed our stay but would only go back in summer months.
We stayed 5 days and the unit was not cleaned at all and no linen replaced. The lady did take the rubbish out each day but that was the extent of the service.

Our second visit to this lovely beachside resort, as part of a long journey down Australia's East Coast, and we were blown away that the staff remembered us and our names from when we visited on our hiking trip last year ! Elise from Housekeeping who serviced our apartment daily and kept it spick and span for us deserves special thanks for being so lovely, and we have to say that on our entire trip through Australia, this is the cleanest place we have stayed at by far.

We also booked an Ocean Apartment this time and remembered why we were mesmerized before by the beauty of this turquoise coast from our balcony. Last time we were here the boardwalk on the Esplanade in front of the Resort was still under development. This has all been completed now except for a few of the BBQ areas one block up the road , and it is a credit to the area and it's Council.

Restaurants that we ate at and can recommend around Rumba Resort were the "Sandbar Cafe" which was excellent for their fish and chips, fine wine selection, and home-made ice-cream. We went back several times for the mango and coconut which was just exceptional. "Tides" restaurant was wonderful for their seafood fine-dining, and "Amici" (off Cooma Terrace) was fabulous for its Italian, and so was La Dolce Vita at the Rumba Complex itself.

This time round the resort had bicycles for hire which was a very welcome addition for our creaking 60 yr old knees, and we cycled several times on the boardwalk to the other beaches around from the resort via the boardwalk. We are heading back to chilly NZ soon but will definitely be back this time next year.

Just had three days staying in a 1 Bed Resort Spa Suite to celebrate our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. We've admired this place from afar for years and finally found a reason to go try it out. OK, we got that out of our system, we won't be back.

The suite has a coffee machine which is supplied with just 2 coffee pods for a three day stay, want more, go down to reception and buy them. They can afford to send house keeping in to make the beds every day, but can't afford to leave two coffee pods each day.

There were only two power sockets in the kitchen and one of them was the coffee machine so we had to juggle appliances, plus there are no spare power points to charge your phone or computer so you have to unplug something at the desk.

In the bedroom there is a lovely flat screen TV with the ugliest cable hanging down the wall to the power point, what were the designers thinking when they did this?

The resort is in a great location and the staff are friendly enough, pity the bins were emptied under our room at 6am on Friday morning, never believed there could be so much noise from so much smashing glass as the four industrial bins were emptied.

We've stayed in a much nicer place just around the corner and will be going back there next time.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor if possible

It’s very disheartening to read your comments LinOz. Our team works really hard to please, so we wish we could have made your stay as great as we make it for so many of our other guests. You must really like your coffee! Extra coffee pods are always available at Reception and sorry, but we have no control over bin collection. We hope to see you again, extra coffee included! Have a great day.

I fantastic resort for our family break (that includes a 2 yo and a 4 month old). My 2yo loved going to the range of pools in the resort and also the beach just across the road.

Apartment was large and airy for him to play in when inside and also had a lovely big deck. Loved it so much that stayed an extra night (4 in total)

This is a self-contained apartment, so daily service is only to take the trash out and make the beds. To top off the service it would be nice if they would refresh the toileteries and consumables as who wants to bring dishwashing powder with them for a 4 day break. How much would it really cost, especially as the additional nights are no cheaper then getting a fresh apartment! Whereas these are not inclusions, this is the small bits of service that get a 5/5 rating from me.

As mentioned previously, the garbage trucks make lots of noise in the mornings, which wakes the bubs. However, this is hardly the resorts fault and more something that the Caloundra Council should perhaps consider when designing the garbage collection routes in the interest of keeping tourists happy (at this resort and no doubt others).

Internet is very limited at 50mb (up to 1hour) free for your whole stay. This being said, not a problem for us as we go to the beach to get away from internet!

Reception staff very friendly and close to shops and places to eat. Only tip is don't try the Thai corner a block away unless you like tough meat and slop. Wung Nam (which is closer) is fantastic. Everything that you need for cooking is in the room though, making this ideal for families.
