This place is brand new so its really modern and well thought out. We had a two-bedroom apartment that we didn't ever want to leave; the kid’s bedroom was on the opposite side to the master bedroom so their early morning antics didn't wake us. Two bathrooms, spa in master ensuite, very well equipped kitchen and a view that went on forever. Great outdoor setting on balcony, good size lap pool and kids pool, and the service was exceptional. They were ready for our arrival and departure with all the paperwork ready. We would not bother to go elsewhere on our next trip to the Sunshine Coast this place is perfect!

Monaco was a great choice for us in Caloundra for a romantic getaway weekend. The units are very new, spacious and modern. Our view from the 5th floor was amazing and the location is fantastic. You can walk to the beach/watefront and heaps of shops and restaurants within a couple of minutes. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately go back.

The Monaco is everything they claim it to be modern facilities, excellent location and amazing views. We were in a corner unit on level nine and I doubt if you could get a better view, it really was breath taking. We were in a two bedroom unit which was well set out with a suberb kitchen layout and an adequate living area, the bedrooms were of good size and the ensuite was very good. The pool & spa were good although from a personal preference I would have liked the spa to be heated a few degrees more. The gym was very well laid out and allows for a solid workout to counter the extra holiday kilos. The location of the resort is perfect it is within walking distance of several restaurants, shops and supermarket. Overall the Monaco is a very good family friendly resort and we would happily recommend it to everybody wishing to visit Caloundra.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner unit level 6 and above

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a hotel but felt compelled to do so having stayed here for a three day weekend get away. When we arrived the front counter staff were friendly and very helpful. We had booked a one bedroom apartment and were upgraded to a larger two bedroom apartment for free. The apartment was beautiful with absolutely amazing views of the Pumistone Passage. The apartment was spacious and was very tastefully decorated. More importantly the furnishings were comfortable - a lovely leather lounge you could sleep on or kick back with a beer or two for hours and the bed.....well the bed was TO DIE FOR!!!! We slept so well and enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Spend the extra $$ and get an ocean view room

We have just stayed in a three bedroom penthouse at Monaco (12th floor) with another couple (family). At our age (50+) we were looking for somewhere reasonably quiet but with close access to restaurants and shopping. We couldn't have picked a better location than Monaco. It was indeed very quiet but with direct access from the resort to Bullcock Street and every type of restaurant and take away that you would ever want. The Sunday markets just outside the door were terrific. We loved the games room and spent many an hour playing pool and air hockey. The pool area was lovely and the spa and children's pool very warm (even in May). The unit was lovely, very clean and spacious with the most amazing view over the shipping channel. The unit was well stocked with kitchen utensils and appliances. Last of all (but probably best of all) was the staff at Monaco. Nothing was too much trouble. One afternoon we were trying to get the courtesy bus to the RSL but had just missed the scheduled pick up. The gentleman on reception actually drove us to the RSL in his own car. Money can't buy service like that. Monaco - treasure these people, they are your most valuable assets. We will be back.

This apartment complex is so good I'm actually writing a review while still checked in!

We are a family with a couple of pre-schoolers and wanted to stay somewhere that was a few steps from the beach without bars & cafes underneath the complex. Our priorities were a well maintained complex, heated pools (including toddler), reasonably new apartment, safe for preschoolers and a sea view. As we were looking to stay well over a week we wanted somewhere that would become a home for us and where the staff would get to know us. We spotted the Monaco eight months ago and, after asking a few questions, reading other Trip Advisor reviews and looking carefully at the location on Google Earth we booked directly with the resort. In the months in between the team at the Monaco have been nothing short of extremely professional as we had to change dates or extend our stay a few times. Even when we rang with a last minute small panic, they were on the ball and reassuring.

From the moment we arrived at the Monaco we knew we'd made an excellent choice. Our late night check in was simple and seamless. The apartment has a secure carpark for each apartment and lift access right from the basement parking to your floor. It's worth noting that you can only access your floor, your level in the basement parking and the ground floor at the Monaco - great security and ensures that there aren't guests from other floors wandering the building. The team have even thought to have a trolley by the lift for you to take your baggage up to your floor quickly and easily.

The apartments are huge and really high spec. We had a two bedroom apartment on one of the upper levels. All appliances are F&P or Smeg and are pristine. The kitchen had everything right down to a cheese grater and an electric frypan! In the lounge the couch was comfy enough to nap on while the kids played on the carpet with their toys in front of the tv. My kids spent a lot of time on the floor playing with their cars and liked the apartment so much it was hard to convince them to go outside.

The bedrooms are a great size and the second bedroom with the twin beds was ideal for our kids. The rollerblind did a great job of keeping the light out night or day, which gave us the flexibility to nap the kids when they got overtired during the day.

The bathroom right opposite the second bedroom was ideal as the kids could have a shower and then go straight to their room to dress without trying to get back to the lounge area and watch tv instead of going to bed. The second bathroom contained a massive walk-in shower, toilet, sink and the washer & dryer.

The main bedroom was a wonderful retreat. and it really felt like we were in a luxury hotel having a lovely holiday each morning we woke up. The main bedroom has a door to open onto the deck, and a window with a blind that opened into the lounge. I could read on the bed with the blind up and still monitor the children playing in the lounge in comfort. The beds are quality Sealy Executive Sleep mattresses and are on the firm side and while I prefer a softer bed the kids and my husband loved them. The pillows were pretty good too and I'm one to take my own pillow on holiday! The ensuite was lovely with a walk-in shower and a spa bath and had a range of toiletries for guests.

The views and the balcony are a huge plus for the Monaco. We had an uninterrupted view of the area and the six seater dining table on the deck was well used for dinners and lunches. We saw everything from cruise ships and airforce helicopters to a resident sea eagle and bats from our balcony. The kids loved watching everything going on and I felt very safe with them playing on the balcony as I sat out there with them.

The Monaco has a spa pool, toddler pool and lap pool. The pool area gets great morning sun but was getting a little cool by about four in the afternoon. My husband thought the lap pool was too cool for the kids so we stuck with the toddler pool and the spa pool. Both are heated but could do with being a few degrees warmer now that the weather is cooling down a bit. While the pools aren't massive, we were staying at the Monaco during a peak occupancy period and we never felt overcrowded. There are certainly enough chairs and tables in the sun and in the shade for everyone. There is a sauna by the pool and nicely fitted out bathrooms nearby. There are a couple of huge BBQ areas by the pool which were being used over Easter but were immaculately clean.

There is a games room that some of the tweens / teens seemed to enjoy using but wasn't age appropriate for our kids, so we didn't venture in to look too closely. The gym was kitted out with a C2 rowing machine and known brand treadmills etc - so there have been no corners cut with cheap gym equipment.

The front of house team, Emma & Tanya, make the Monaco what it is. They are always professionally dressed, happy to see everyone and can find out the answers to any query. These ladies do a great job for the owners and the holidaymakers alike and are some of the best hotel staff I've encountered while travelling.

The apartment was extremely clean and apart from two little areas of slight dust, I couldn't fault the cleaning team.

For us, one of the most attractive things about the Monaco is the guests and residents are lovely people. There is a No Party policy and while other complexes in Caloundra have rowdy guests, the Monaco guests all seemed to enjoy themselves without loud music or yelping. Being a parent of young kids I really want my sleep, so No Party policies are something we look for in choosing somewhere to stay.

Having walked the Caloundra Boardwalk and looked at the other hotels, apartments and resorts over the past week; I'm very happy with our choice of the Monaco. Sure the Rumba Resort looks lovely & has a large pool but it has several shops and eating establishments underneath. For me that leads to a lot of activity at night when you are trying to get kids to sleep and not every room has a sea view. The Breakfree in front of the Monaco has a great pool which gets good afternoon sun but also has eating establishments underneath, looks much older and it's holiday crowd tends to be far more rowdy.

The Monaco is in a much more sheltered position for wind compared many other places It's still an easy walking distance to the amazing playground by the beach and all the great shops on Bullcock Street about 50 metres out of the front door. The supermarket and small mall is a very easy walk too.

As a family we wouldn't want to stay anywhere but The Monaco in Caloundra. Caloundra was the perfect location for us; it has several great sandy beaches, fabulous playparks and a good selection of shops. Attractions such as Australia Zoo within an easy 20 minute drive. Caloundra itself is a lot more upmarket that anything we struck on the Gold Coast and we loved the feel of the place. The Monaco was the right choice for us for our family holiday and we hope to return in the future.
