“Beautiful park but very noisy”
Reviewed 16 January 2013 via mobile

This is a lovely caravan park, very true to the Big 4 style. It's has obviously been completely overhauled since google maps pics were taken so I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and design of the park and amenities.

I was a little disappointed with our initial greeting at the front desk. A rather rude nonchalant older lady greeted us with a very solemn attitude. Looking over the top of her glasses she spoke quite abrupt and after a 6 hr drive, the least she could offer is service with a smile. After all, smiles are free! I don't expect bells and whistles on arrival, but a simple smile with a pleasant greet would be nice.

The only bad thing about this park is traffic noise. It seems to go all night long. The park is on a main road through the town and it is very busy! So, if you're a light sleeper, this is not for you!

Would I stay here again? Probably not. I've stayed in better that are not that far from here.

We had a wonderful stay in our caravan for 4 nights in Nov 2012 & were impressed with the layout, cleanliness, generous sites & the friendly staff that welcomed us when we first arrived. Our site didn't have a slab so we were able to change without too much fuss, even though it was quite noisy towards the main road,we would request a site further away from the road next time.It is a lovely park with lot's of great walks & cafe's & restaurants close by along the waterfront. We will return to this Park again as we love the position & the staff were always very helpful, thanks Angus!

We booked this park to explore the Australia Zoo and the Glass House Mountains. And what a fantastic park this is. Originally we planned to stay just 1 night, we ended up staying 4 nights. The amenities are absolutely clean, so is the camp kitchen. The pool was a little bit too cool, but after a long day of hiking in the sun we really enjoyed the cool-down. We would definitely stay here again.

Reviewed 18 November 2012

On the weekend my husband and I and our three adult children travelled from Brisbane to meet up with family who travelled from Gympie. We stayed in one of the cabins at the Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park and my brother-in-law and his wife and two pre-teen children stayed at a camp site also in the Holiday Park.
While the grounds and facilities at the park were of a high standard, the customer service and attitude of the on-site management was very disappointing. On booking (with Susan) the communication was brief and abrupt. However, the most disappointing aspect was on the Saturday night where both families met at our cabin for a bbq and get together. The seven adults were on the deck of the cabin doing what families do when they get together, talking, laughing and generally catching up. Unfortunately our cabin was right next door to the on-site management and at 9:20pm the male manager appeared on his deck and kept glaring at us. By 9:30pm he approached and told us the Park had a curfew of 9:00pm and that all visitors should have vacated. (I don’t think he realised our visitors were actually customers of the park also).
Apart from the fact that a 9:00pm curfew would be considered by most as ridiculous, at no stage was this mentioned or advertised via the Park website or any other means of communication to us. If it had, we would have considered alternate accommodation for the weekend, or if we had been told at check in, we would have been aware and accommodated the park rules. Instead we were approached in a very unfriendly manner and basically “told off” for something we weren’t even aware of. The approach could have been a lot more civil.
Also if we had been extremely loud and abusive past the 9:00pm curfew, this person’s approach may have been justified, but on speaking with neighbouring guests the next day they had no concerns with our behaviour or any excessive noise complaint.
It is a shame this management couple have such limited social and customer service skills, because we will not stay at this park again, nor will our family members, and will be using every social media avenue available to us to pass on our experience with this accommodation venue and it’s management staff.
My husband and I are in our 50’s, but clearly we are not grey enough for this holiday park. Our day does not begin at 5:00am and end at 8:00pm. We are still trying to enjoy life.

Hi Judy,

Firstly, thank you for your feedback, a more detailed response has been sent in reply to the email you also sent.

As the CEO of the group that operates the Caloundra Waterfront Holiday Park, all feedback good and bad is extremely important to me. I apologise if you felt our service levels and our hospitality have let you down. I am taking your feedback and using it improve our customer service and our overall policies.

Addressing the points in your review:

* Our apologies if had interpreted our service brief and abrupt. As your party had arrived after the close of reception and you had travelled to get here, we were keen to ensure a speedy passage to your awaiting cabin. We have taken your feedback and reviewing the matter with relevant staff.

* The happiness of all our guests (after safety) is a our number 1 priority. Over the past few weeks, we've had a number of guests staying in the park who have made complained about the noise of other residents.

The park being in a relatively enclosed urban area creates a situation where night time sound travels louder and beyond what anyone would typically expect.

We are far from wanting to stop a good time, but given the number guest complaints of guest noise, I had asked to my staff to keep a closer eye on the park and be proactive in managing potential noise issues. As your cabin was starting to ramp up in noise, my staff tried to manage the situation before it become a problem.

We have obviously failed in our approach and manner in our attempt to tackle this problem.

Its disappointing to get negative feedback, especially when so many people enjoy the services and amenities of our park. However I can assure you, feedback good or bad, is appreciated and acted upon.

Please accept our sincere apologies. In the email correspondence, i put forward an offer as a token of our apology. If you would further like to discuss the matter, I'm more than happy to make/take a call.

Yours sincerely,
Angus Booker

We stayed in a Grevillea cabin for 7 nights in October 2012, with our 16 month old boy.

First thing that strikes you about the park is location -perfect picturesque location on the passage, but in the heart of Caloundra. Surrounding facilities are all a walk away, including a good size shopping centre, supermarkets, beach, and esplanade dining. The 'boardwalk' is on your doorstep - a beautiful waterfront walking path that always have runners, walkers, bikes, dogs, kids all making use of it.

The parks is nice and new, with good facilities. Jumping pillow is great for kids, the pool looks nice (although we went to the beach instead) and laundry facilities were good.

Our cabin was a 2 bedroom self contained cabin - high chair & portacot were no charge (although it pays to ring ahead and remind that you require them it seems!). Cooktop, microwave and full size fridge/freezer were great, with a small dishwasher. No oven/grill however. Cabins are nice and new, spotless.

We found Caloundra to be a perfect base for what we wanted - just on an hour to Brisbane (we flew to/from Brisbane - more options than flying to Sunshine Coast), 20 minutes to Australia zoo and underwater world, and beach/walks on your doorstep.

A great relaxing location for a lovely family holiday. :)

We had a great stay here with our baby daughter. Cabins are very modern and clean and so close to the water, it's only like about 10 meters to the gate from the back ones we were in or right on the gate if you got the water front ones. 2 lcd tvs hood for kids, quiet aircon fans as well. Everything is almost brand new. Our bed was a bit small, must have been a double, but confortable enough. Staff always very friendly as well. Park was nice and quiet good pool for the kids and jumping pillow our baby loved. Plenty of eating choices around and heaps of beachside walkways to explore. Great park along the walk to the beaches. Would recommend staying here, we will be back, but will book longer than 2 nights next time.

Hubby and I overnighted here with our two children. What a great park! All ammenities were spotless, our cabin was clean and fresh with everything we needed. Reception was welcoming and comical which was just what I needed after a 4 hours drive with the little ones. We had the biggest and best seafood dinner from the place just outside the gates, we will be back, but for much longer next time!
