4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

We arrived mid afternoon on a family trip from New South Wales to Queensland. Checking in was s l o w. The front counter seemed flustered by the previous clients and somewhat confused. There was no happy, professional welcome, just some rather invasive forms thrust at us and this was after we'd already been waiting for five minutes. Parking is at a premium and it was a worry that the potential of half a dozen car parks in driveway were take up by a single car that had arrived 20 minutes before (but been held up by invasive forms, poor customer service and dazed staff) with the dad unpacking the roof racks there rather than being directed to the very nice and extremely spacious underground car park. Anyway we got to the car park and finally got to our rooms.

Wow, it is an older establishment that has recently been given a very professional touch up really refreshing it. Our two bedroom apt was on the top floor with a terrific view. The furnishing are a bit on the tired side and when we first tried the bed... oh dear this is going to be a problem, but it really wasn't. It was a terrific mattress, great nights sleep. The bathroom was more than adequate but it had a whirlpool tub in the middle of the lounge room ... odd, but behind screens so not invasive, just ... odd.

Security was excellent, swipe cards for door and garage access.

Heaps of great little restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity along with a bunch of other hotels, eateries and bars and all of Kings Beach.

I'd certainly stay there again. Not too flash nothing pretentious, I'd just like to see the front counter staff put through a refresher course on how to treat the paying guests.

This was our first holiday at Rolling Surf Resort and we loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful, although we were a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment on our arrival the staff were quick to rectify this. Overall it was clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace was a nice feature although we only used it once, it would be much better if it had shade. The swimming pools were great although it would have been better to have both of them heated, it's a shame there is no afternoon sun on the pool area! Overall I would rate our stay as a 9/10 and we would definitely go back!

Room Tip: If you are looking for an ocean view, request the top floor.

We stayed at the Rolling Surf for 10 days and although we did not get a balcony room which we think was the fault of our agent we were compensated by almost having two of everything (loungerooms, bathrooms, toilets, showers, wardrobes, televisions and sofa beds). The sofa was not very comfortable and the heavy wooden venetian blinds made the room darker than it should have been. The receptionists were very helpful and always cheerful. This property was probably the only accommodation in Australia, that we have stayed at, that was pest free. A clean apartment but all the rules and regulations reminded of a military camp!

Room Tip: Ground floor pool side.

Stayed at the Rolling Surf in a two bedroom unit as a family group for a weekend stay. The unit was very roomy with great access to the pool-almost swim up to the balcony!! The surf beach is a stones throw away with great swimming and there are a couple of great little coffee shops and takeaways right on the doorstep of the resort overlooking the beach. Breakfast was a delight with great coffee and pancakes with our table facing the beach. Our unit was roomy but some more seating was needed in our living area but nevertheless was clean and modern, beds comfortable and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the spa bath! Security of the complex was impressive with a secure car park and each unit had a security gate. Our needs were tended to promptly when we requested a high chair for my grand daughter. Only complaint was the air conditioning which needed updating but nonetheless worked when we finally figured out how to operate it. The resort is not close to supermarkets which makes a car essential. Would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Room 33 is facing the pool with direct access to it via steps but is a little noisy with guests comi...

rolling surf is the ideal family resort. loved it. this is our second time. the resort is right on the beach with a great pool and walking track out the front. there are restaurants below as well as takeaway and icecream shop. the rooms are a reasonable size. highly recommend it for a holiday. the staff are friendly with a particular mention to Jessica.

Room Tip: pool entry for easy access to the pool or chose a balcony with a view.

Fantastic location. We stayed in the 3 bedroom courtyard unit for 4 nights, which had perfect access to the beach, walking paths, restaurants and all the Kings Beach facilities. Unfortunately the unit had quite a few maintenance issues which we hope will be attended to in the near future. The top rack of the dishwasher was broken, ice machine in fridge does not work, dryer sounds like an airplane and does not dry, toilet roll holder in main bathroom broken and there was no mop!! Windows overlooking the pool from the bedrooms were filthy. Apart from these annoying issues the complex itself is beautiful and location is fabulous. The unit has a great courtyard which is great for the littlies (we had a 5 and 2.1/2 yr old), although unfortunately this had not been swept out and was full of sand. Beds were great. Will definitely stay here again if a few basic repairs are carried out.
