“An entertaining little museum”

Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum

The museum is quite small and shelters a random collection of old objects, trucks, toys... Although it is not going to impress tourists who are used to the European heritage, the museum is quite entertaining and charming. There is a section on the time when Gympie was a gold mine and some of the original buildings. Overall, I had a good time and did not regret the time spent at the museum.

we went as a couple on the 05/04/13 and found the attraction to be full of history as well as about the gold mining
each area is broken down to diiferent parts and items of history from machinary to gems and rocks, seashells , the gold rush and how it saved Queensland from going bankcrupt
all dispalys are inside buildings apart from a walk to the mines old lift shaft area where you need to walk along a bridge to get to the furnace area
very nice attraction, good cheap cafe, free parking and use of a barbarcue in park area
overall would give the attraction 9/10 as not 100% accsessable for persons with disability

So much Aussie history. Amazing array of machinery used in the gold rush era. A true insight into the life in early 1900's. Beautiful collection of gems, polished stones and rocks.
Communication devices from morse code , old phones, radios and more.
Old tools, cars, and household things like butter churner and clothes wringers.
We spent 2 hours there wandering around. Highly recommend. Very interesting and left feeling lucky to have seen so many of the changes in life style during that era until now.
Cafe had good food and drinks at a fair price.
Proud to be an Aussie

Took the kids to see the local museum, not bad but needs some work, displays are good but are a bit mismatched and all over the place. Would be good to see local council injecting some funds and modernishing the museum.
