The staff were really helpful and friendly, they gave us some really good tips about the island. The room was clean, comfortable and had a great view of the bay. Breakfast was really good and we recommend Steak Friday's. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Kangaroo Island

Thanks Guys!
We are glad you enjoyed the stay. We pride ourselves on our personalised service so its good to hear we were able to give you some good tips about touring the island. Sometimes the local knowledge helps.
We noticed that you are from Adelaide so hopefully you will get the chance to visit again soon. See you then.

I booked this hotel based on ads that promoted the sea views etc. We were placed on the ground floor and for some reason there was a great big marquis set up blocking nearly all our view of the sea. The room itself was comfortable and the bed gave us a good nights sleep. The only problem was that the access to upstairs rooms is right above our room, so whenever guests were entering or leaving it sounded like a herd of cattle on the roof.
Some of the fixtures and decor need updating, it looks a bit "70's" The wet room style shower was ok although make sure the door is closed so you don't set off the smoke alarm! Using the iron was a bit hit and miss as it spurted out calcification that had built up inside it.
The meals were fantastic, very pricey but very good, except for breakfast. I begrudge paying $17 for toast and a selection of fruit (you are better off going into town at Rogers Cafe and get a big scrambled egg and bacon breakfast for the same price that easily feeds two people)
On the whole its not a bad place and the staff are very friendly and helpful, but all up for 3 nights accommodation, a dinner for two and brekky it cost $630 which isn't really the best value for what you are getting.

Room Tip: maybe choose not to be on the ground floor if you want good sea views

Hi Tobes,
Totally get where you are coming from. Kangaroo Island during the Christmas and New Year, like everywhere is more expensive. We offer great special rates at other times. When you booked late in November you got our very last standard room which is downstairs near the restaurant. I'm sorry you did not enjoy being on the ground floor.
We try to have as great a selection as possible for our continental breakfast which proves to be very popular for many of our house guests. It includes more than just toast and a selection of fruit. There is home made quiche, Kangaroo Island Free Range hard boiled eggs, home made muffins, home made muesli bar, yogurts with mixed berries, home made muesli and cereals, cheese, as well as crepes with toppings. And of course juices, tea and coffee.
Regards
Alex and Chris

Great ocean seaside views across the quiet street. Rooms were clean, adequate and comfortable, but a bit overpriced given their basic nature. There were certainly no "extras."A solid 3-star style place that you go to and stay at for the view, which seems to be what they're counting on and charging the slightly higher prices for.

Thanks for taking the time to make a review.
Glad you enjoyed the views and location.
As you stayed around Christmas time which is the busiest time of year, you therefore paid peak period rates similar to what you find elsewhere on the island. Our pricing structure varies from time to time and we offer great special rates at other times.
We pride ourselves on being a great mid-range option with FREE parking, FREE WiFi, FREE Coffee and Tea making facilities and great country service.
Thanks again and hopefully we see you again soon.

We arrived at the hotel a bit too late in the evening but the staff was so kind to serve us the dinner before to close to kitchen.
Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the ocean view because there was foggy weather.
The rooms are quite big and it's true the wifi signal is a bit too far. to summarize the hotel is in the average, but as somebody else also said in his review, kangaroo island is a special place and the accommodation is not the most important thing.

Hi,
Thanks for the review and comments. We are a simple country style motel and pride ourselves on our personalised service and great ocean views. So I am pleased to hear we got you dinner after getting off the late ferry despite the fact that the weather hampered the view.
I have just invested on extra WiFi routers for the rooms as I have noticed that the network has been strained with extra users during this busy period. I do appologise if there were any interruptions during your stay.
I trust that you enjoyed the trip to KI and hope that your stay with us was equally enjoyable.
See you next time!
Alex

We absolutely loved the seaside inn in Kingscote! Every room has a stunning view of the coast, the location is within walking distance to shops and cafés in Kingscote and the staff are incredible! Alex, the manager, was very helpful in assisting us with booking our tours, orienting us to the town & ensuring that our stay was perfect! (Alex, you deserve a superman cape for the volumes of work you do in one day's time! Thanks so much for making our stay on kangaroo island a magical experience- my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer!)
