“Lots of wildlife and a handy little shop”
Reviewed 9 October 2012

We stayed here in our Britz campervan for one night in September and this was by far our favourite place to stay on KI (other places we stayed were Kangaroo Island Shores and Kingscote Tourist Park). Our powered site cost less than $30 and was spacious and quite private, with wallabies wandering right up to the door! At around dusk we did the Koala Walk and saw a koala! We also saw another koala run past our site and up a tree. Very exciting for us poms. There were also lots of wallabies and possums.

The showers were hot, water pressure good and amenities block clean.

There is a great little shop at reception, selling things from shampoo to ice to milk. Very handy on KI where you sometimes don't pass a shop for a while.

Very friendly owners who have obviously put a lot into the place.

I only wish we'd stayed longer!

Peaceful, plenty of wildlife, good camp kitchen, friendly staff, great location. Kids loved it and so did we. Highly recommend as a base for the western end of the island. Koalas, kangaroos, possums and turkeys (believe it or not) wander the grounds giving you plenty of close encounters and photo opportunities.

The first day we went for a stroll along Becky's lagoon walk and saw wallabies, kangaroos and cape barren geese and their goslings. The second morning, a koala thumped out of a tree next to our tent and had a stand off wih a roo. A possum with its baby hung around in the amenities block, which, incidentally was kept spotless during out stay.

Great unpowered site with plenty of room. Lovely camp kitchen with firewood for the camp kitchen fireplace. Would recommend to all.

We stayed in a two bedroom cabin. Great facilities in the cabin and in the park. Bedrooms were rather cramped but great bathroom. We felt we were miles from nowhere, which we were, near the western national park. A good place to see the sights of Kangaroo Island, rather than being in a sleepy little town. We'd recommend it.

We stayed in a cabin with 2 adults and 2 small kids (5 and 3) for 3 nights. It was a little small for the 4 of us - if we went back we might upgrade to a deluxe cabin, which I think are a bit bigger. But we would not hesitate to stay here again - the cabin was extremely well equipped, from a well set-up kitchen to big soft bath towels to cleaning supplies in a tucked-away bathroom cupboard. Brilliant location, close to Flinders Chase NP and the stunning Hanson Bay. We stayed up both ends of KI during the trip and this end was definitely our favourite. We had visits from galahs, wallabies and ducks every morning as we ate breakfast on the sunny deck, and there were lovely big spaces for the kids to run around and kick the footy. The park also has several signposted short walks - one to a lagoon (with Cape Barren geese and plenty of kangaroos) and one around a eucalypt forest - I didn't see any koalas on this walk (and from the visitor book comments I'm probably the only one to miss them) but did love getting close to the wallabies. The staff at the park were lovely too - highly recommended!

We stayed here in a cabin for two nights and we happy with the cabin and loved the wildlife just outside the door, caabin was clean and comfy, just right for two, though it had 2 bedrooms with a double and two bunks, air conditioner, stove utensils etc close to the National Park.
recommended !

We loved our stay here, we were camping in an unpowered site, price was excellent. The sites were spacious, quite, and clean. They also have on site cabins to rent if you don't fancy camping. I would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to stay on the Western side of KI, Its less than a 5 minute drive from Flinders Chase national park. A great spot to also see the wildlife as it passes by your tent in the evening.
