“Good base for Western KI”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014

We stayed 2 nights in the Lonzars Cabin. We had lots of wildlife around us and lots of crazy humans trying to get to close, trying to feed them, etc. etc. We saw one family push their little daughter toward a kangaroo so they could get a better photo! Cabin was very clean and had all the cooking equipment we needed. Nothing luxurious but everything worked. Be sure to get your groceries in Kingscote before you come to western KI, because there is really not much available. We enjoyed Chase Flinders National Park and the Birds of Prey park.

We stayed here recently for a week in a tent. What an absolutely fabulous campsite, we saw more wildlife in a week, up close, than we have in 6 months in oz. we had koalas within 5 feet of our tent, wallabies right outside your tent and cheeky possums, as well as geese and kangaroos. The facilities are top notch, extremely clean and well maintained. Fabulous spotless, well stocked kitchen. We were given 2 pitches, which was great as the kids had loads of room. There is a great lagoon walk and loads of things for the kids to explore. Our kids loved it! The owner came over one day and gave us a massive piece of blue fin tuna, which he caught himself, for free. I would highly recommend this campsite. Well worth every dollar. Fabulous!

We stayed in a cabin for 3 nights in a cabin.
Location was great for flinders chase (this was our evening sunset photo location), swimming at Hanson bay, vivonne bay & even seal bay.
We saw koalas right next to our cabin, wallabies, kangaroos & lots of bird life - fantastic!
The cabin was spacious, clean and well equipped (theres even a coffee plunger).
Very quite, no noise from other campers etc. No complaints.
Some cooking oil & salt + pepper in the cabins would make it perfect.
Nb Cooking a BBQ is an easy option.
As one of the cheaper accommodation options on the island, we would definitely recommend this

We stayed 3 nights at Western KI Caravan Park in the Banksia cabin. We were six people and it was tight accommodations. We didn't spend much time in the cabin as the location to Fiinders Chase and other attractions is excellent. The grounds are well maintained and the wildlife is abundant. There were kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and echidnas right on the grounds. The location is great but be isolated so be prepared to bring your own food.

We have just returned from 5 days (4 nights) at the Western KI Caravan Park. It is an awesome base to do Flinders chase; little Sahara; Seal bay and Kelly Hill caves and the Raptor Domain as well as quad biking and horse riding. The sites are roomy enough for tents and camper trailers and the place is alive with wildlife as the sun sets and beyond - which the kids thought was great. the downside is the layout of the amenities blocks (toilet/shower and basin) in one room means continual waits for showers......

This is our third year in a row to stay here. We use a site for our camper trailer and the wildlife, tranquility and access to local attractions is awesome.

Amenities are clean as a whistle and everything is maintained well. This a family business and they really care about their guests. The park is also spread out with heaps of space for everyone with some really nice shaded spots. Heaps of wildlife with koalas above you but possums and wallabies to rummage through your food at night, so lock away your food at night out you'll have some unwelcome visitors.

Stayed there for 3 days but wish we had longer. There were still walks and places we didn't get to see. We had 3 people in an non powered camp site for $10 p.p. That's cheap!
The highlight is all the wild animals! Kangaroos and koalas with in eye sight of the tent.

I'd definitely stay again.
