“Fantastic place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2013 via mobile

My family and I have just returned from spending Easter at this fantastic place. Agather the host was so friendly and accommodating to us and our children even giving them Easter eggs. Absolutely everything is supplied there were even birthday candles! We had the house upstairs and it was so spacious and 2 of the rooms had ensuites. Beautiful views of the ocean and the dolphins swimming around. I know other people have said in their reviews that the host was overbearing but we found her to be just wonderful and she even gave us a hug when we left! We are so looking forward to staying there again.

The place really does have the potential to be a great place to stay, hoping the host reads some of these reviews so as to increase customer satisfaction in the future. If you are going to stay would only recommend unit 3, and tell the host to politely leave you alone!!!

I stayed in 3- bedroom ground floor apartment for one night. When we drove to find the way, seems the block is not easily identified. There is a big flower plot in front of the apartment. You can use the parking spaces next to the block. Our apartment has a spacious living room and well eqiuipped kitchen so we can make our own dinner. The owner is so kind that she left some vegetables for us. The rooms are all clean and tidy. At night, we just have to drive 5 minutes to Bicheno penguin tour. We love this apartment and would like to stay here next time.

A clean and tidy place, very well-maintained by the owner. We stayed in the upper floor which has a very nice view (esp for sunrise), and is equipped with spacious rooms. It was not far fm the city centre (5-10 minutes drive). The owner was helpful and friendly, although sometimes she could be too keen in ensuring the well-being of her unit. There's an abalone farm very close to the lodge, and one buy seafood (such as lobster and abalone) from that place for dinner at the lodge, or one can go to the city centre as well.

Location – not a walking distance to Bicheno town centre (unless yo walk on the busy road aprox half hour). Not anywhere close to the beach or access to it + no sea view from ground floor apartments.

Not a farm really (no farm animals, apart from the single goat next door). However, you can see guys beating boxing bag in the carport next to the rusty cooker (that never made it to the dump) in the front yard.

Driveway in very bad condition – need to be extremely careful not to leave your exhaust on it while driving up. If you are in off road vehicle you should be OK passing over the rubble and sunken parts to park in ‘designated carport’.

Unit 2 “spa room” has corner bath with broken spa. Mould present all around bath seals. Blue tacked signs all over the place telling you what not to do: Do not open blinds in particular way, do not unplug any device, run fan min 10 min after having showers to stop further mould developing (extremely noisy exhaust fan)…

Cutlery /crockery & glassware provided is way old, overused, kitsch, unpractical stuff you find in Op shop or your granny’s vitrina. Looking inside the hot water kettle made me gag (residue layers collecting in for a years!). Space provided for food preparation small and inappropriate. For example, if you like to make coffee and the toast, you got to remove pots containing condiments and plates from the only corner they fit in to be able to reach socket. You have to unplug kettle, close the cupboard sliding door, open other sliding door where sink is, fill in the kettle, do the whole door thing again and go ahead with boiling your water. Then you should remove your kettle from area, so you actually have a surface to put your toaster on, unplug kettle, and plug in toaster…..then you can conveniently pour your cup of tea in decorative porous cup and rip your toast with bland knife provided.

TV mounted very high on the ceiling with no remote control provided.

Deco dated…whole place gives impression like it bought in some old garage sale, including “art piece” on the wall that should be called “Blood spilled in cinchy nature”

Agather (landlady) hoovering around with useless stuff for you (such as stained bath robe) & not informative about anything that someone from out of town would like to do in town/around.

This was worse accommodation by far on our two week holiday in Tasmania.

Pictures provided on accommodation’s website are deceiving and not showing many negative aspects of this place.

For a similar price you could stay in the town (which is beautiful and quiet place), walking distance to varied beach & amenities. You can find lot of better options in town, and it seemed not busy even around peak season.

Save your $ and stay way clear from this place.

We arrived in Bicheno without any hotel reservations and were hopelessly driving around as every sign read no vacancy. We were very worried that we'd have t spend the night in the car when we drove by Harvey Farm and saw the sign say vacancy. No one was there but there was a number. We drove back to town to find a pay phone since our cell had no service.
The owner said she'd be there in 2 minutes and to meet her there, so relieved, we drove back and indeed she quickly arrived and showed us unit 1 which was the only available unit. It was huge. 3 bedrooms rooms, 2 of which she locked, 2 bathrooms and laundry facilities. 10 more people could have slept there that night. She quickly checked us in becasue she was worried that we wouldn't get any food since everything in Bicheno closed at 8:00 and it was 7:50. (We made it to the pub just in time).
The kitchen was well equipped, but we didn't have anything to cook, and there were also chocolates and port available for us. In the morning the owner gave us a large souvenir photo of Bicheno which I saw in the store later for 5 dollars and helped us to our car and waved as if we were old friends parting when we drove away. The owner is absolutely lovely.

I was there with 3 other families. The host offers first class customer service. She was friendly and patient to listen and answer to all queries. She was not there to receive us but left gifts for each family and a Fruit Cake for each unit as it is near to Christmas.
We booked 2 units. Unit 3 is a deluxe apartment with spectacular ocean views. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms (two ensuites). The inside of the apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated. Everyone was in ewe as we opened the door to the apartment as we were deceived by the shabby looking exterior. It has a large lounge room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. The main bedroom has a 4 posts bed and spectacular ocean views. You can catch the sun rise from your bed.
Unit 1 is a standard apartment which is at the ground floor. It is much older as compared to the deluxe apartment. The unit is very clean and neat but deco and furnitures are old. It is very spacious and has three bedrooms: two rooms with queen size beds and ensuites, one with a bunk bed, another with a king size and bunk bed. It has a fully equipped kitchen and one bathroom with laundry facilities as well.

  • Liked — The cosy and comfaortable unit 3 with wonderful view of sunrise.
  • Disliked — Unit 1 was a bit old.
