The Holmwood Guesthouse is a very cozy B&B that is in a great location. You can walk to many restaurants and all of the major sights are a short drive. We stayed in the main house in a very comfortable room. Judy was a wonderful hostess and being able to use the rest of the house for lounging was perfect. We had a great breakfast each morning and Judy was very helpful with local advice for activities for the day. Phillip Island is very quaint and I didn't see any place on the island that I would rather stay than Holmwood Guesthouse.

Whatever the occasion or season, this 'HOME' has got it all!
The Guesthouse has got 3 of the most tastefully decorated and comfortable rooms, fully equipped with all the mod cons...and CLEAN! We stayed for 2 nights and didn't feel like leaving it felt so good.
Open fire in a beautiful lounge area..perfect for that pre dinner drink or late night fire talk:)
The breakfast room is filled with light that streams in through it's windows overlooking the magical gardens on the property and the hosts Jill and Jason along with their 'friends' that help are extremely obliging but at the same time invisible.
Really good people folks!
Before we left, we were fortunate enough to get a tour of the 3 self contained cottages on the property which also looked great. It's all there, even a spa.
Holmwood is perfectly located so it's close enough to the centre township of Cowes but away enough that it's serene.
We loved it and can't wait to visit again. Definitely a great place to book for a special occasion with 2 other couples and take over the house for a few days. Wow...that would be cool!
Well done guys...thanks for filling this Guesthouse with love and soul!
Andrea and Joe

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Holmwood Guesthouse - incredibly comfortable, super-friendly hosts and a wonderful location - everything you could want from a B&B. Well worth the few extra dollars of some of the other accommodation on the island I feel. We stayed in the The Verandah Room. Delightful.

Jill was very welcoming on arrival and even made us a quick coffee before we headed off to see the penguins. Coming back to the fire place that night was delightful and the morning breakfast and coffee was just what I was hoping for. I appreciate that they gave us a little extra time to check out of our room.

I wish their business continued success and I will definitely stay here again the next time I am on the island.

What a find this is!
Beautiful accommodation, clean, warm, fire, spa, dog friendly with NO RESIDUAL DOGGY SMELL.

Staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Our dog was a bit neurotic when we went out without him, one of the staff members said they'd be happy to babysit the following evening if necessary!!

This accomodation is highly reccomended, all of the above plus very close, short walk to town and to the beach.

David, Thanks for reviewing our Spa Cottages. You stayed with us on a chilly winter weekend and it's good to hear you enjoyed all the cottage comforts including the log fire and spa. It's a very cozy space and just a short stroll away from the beach and the pier where you can share the breeze with a few hardy fishermen.

We were happy for you to bring your dog because, as you discovered, the cottages are separate to our Guesthouse (no dogs allowed) and each comes with a private, fenced, courtyard garden, with a gate opening onto Steele Street.

However, we don't always say yes to dogs. There are a number of factors we take into account which is why we like to have a chat to you first.

People holidaying with pets was a new concept for us when we took over the business. We weren't sure about it at all. But after meeting the handful of dog owners who have stayed with us over the past year, we're very impressed by their dedication to leaving the property as they found it, which is more than we can say for some of the all-human parties. Now that's a story waiting to be told, but perhaps we'll save that one for another day.

Jason at Holmwood.

A quaint and charming cottages with varying themes to choose from. We chose the Chinese theme. Bedding is comfortable, nice fireplace for winter, clean and sufficient with necessary serviced apartment necessities. The only disappointment is the old towels for bath. The host was extremely friendly and was very patient in providing directions and activities in the area.

Thank you for reviewing our Spa Cottages. We welcome your suggestions to improve our service. These are two private, self-contained dwellings on leafy Steele Street, situated right next door to the main Holmwood Guesthouse and sharing the same reception. Eventhough the cottages have small kitchens, you're always welcome to pop down to the guesthouse if you feel like breakfast in the cafe. The Spa Cottages are ideal for couples looking for total privacy, or for families with one or two small children. Our cottage guests are really enjoying the log fires this winter, although in the warmer months these units are very popular with their verandahs, barbeques and private courtyard gardens.

We had not booked ahead and were delighted with all aspects of our stay. On arrival we were offered a glass of wine to enjoy beside the fire in the beautiful lounge. Superb wine with nibbles and a lovely start to our brief break. We found the room outstanding tastefully decorated with two comfy armchairs and a large bed overlooking the garden. The Breakfast was excellent with perfectly cooked eggs. We particularly enjoyed the squeezed orange juice and freshly made coffee, we were offered a second towards the end of breakfast which also hit the spot. Jill was most friendly and gave great advice with regard to our sight-seeing thus we enjoyed a most scenic drive that we would otherwise have missed. We look forward to a return visit!

Thank you for the review Judy. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful Garden Room. Breakfast is an important part of the Holmwood experience and it's good to hear you enjoyed the full offering. As you discovered, it's the little things like freshly squeezed juice and rich, dark roasted coffee beans that make a big difference. You did well to heed Jill's sight-seeing advice as she spent many childhood years staying with family on the island. Not many people can say they grew up with penguins under the back steps. That drive is amazing. If you're patient, or just lucky, you'll see wallabies bounding up from the beach and eagles circling over the headlands. Even if you don't, the wild coastal scenery is spectacular.

We were very glad that we chose this B&B for our stay on Phillip Island. Like everyone else we came to see the penguins (ultimate tour a bit disappointing) and spent two nights here. The hosts were very welcoming and the room very clean and very nicely decorated.

You can hear some noise from the opposite room especially if their television is on fairly loudly but it's not a problem.

There's a nice lounge to sit in which we made use of. Breakfast was very nice with coffee of your choice.

Cowes seems to shut down very early as we couldn't find anywhere to eat at about 8.45pm and the main street was deserted.

Would thoroughly recommend this B&B
