When we arrived we were asked to forego breakfast as the ladys family had arrived for christmas, but at a push she would make us up a tray of continental style to eat on the verandah, We had to choose what cereal and juice we wanted there and then. When it arrived in the morning, it was laid out nicely, but the verandah was chilly and only a small table to use between us so my partner ate awkwardly from his lap. We didnt get to use the breakfast room or see the gardens as billed in the listing which was disappointing, also on reading other reviews, people have been offered pancakes etc, this wasnt made available to us, although she did offer to stand breakfast in a local cafe, (bearing in mind it had been paid for...bed and breakfast, this isnt a favour.....) but this would have meant finding somewhere and waiting for it to be cooked and as we had a long drive ahead it was far too time consuming. Also, the ladys family took the parking spaces so we had to park further up the street, we are in Oz for 5 weeks, so our cases are very large so we put together an overnight bag out of the trunk to take inside.... not convenient. The lady was quite pleasant but we didnt really feel welcome because of the family issue. Also, the payment for this had been applied to our credit card on 20 November, 4 weeks before we arrived, and actually, we had until 17 December to cancel without charge, doing this also voided our option to pay in cash aswell which was the available terms on Booking.com if we wanted to do so. If she had informed us that the family were arriving and not taken payment we would have understood and found somewhere else, we understand fully the importance of family a christmas, but this booking was made many months ago and should been honoured as listed.

Fortunatly our first pick, Holmwood, was booked, or in our impression, the Lady didn't want to have guests, so we stopped at Genesta. Susan gave us a hearty start right from the first moment. The room was good size, a small veranda into the garden, the bed was comfy. Only the bathroom window couldn't be closed, while we were here, the temps were down at 10° at night, so it was a bit chilly.
The breakfast was awesome. Fresh fruit, ceraels and, for us Germans very important, multigrain toast and smoked ham and salami and cheese. We love some cold cuts for brekkie.
We enjoyed the most the chats with Susan. Her recommention for dinner was excellent.

My husband & I just spent the weekend at this very charming B&B. We stayed in the Fernery Room which was beautifully decorated and had a very comfortable bed to sleep in. The gardens are absolutely beautiful with its fountains & lush plants. We had a warm welcome from Sue and the Breakfast was wonderful everything that you could want plus more. The pancakes were delicious!! I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay & it is only a short walk to the beach & Main Street. We will go back!!!

My husband and I stayed at Genesta House for 2 nights this past weekend. What a find! We booked the Lilly Pilly Room, which was extremely comfortable and nicely decorated, and my husband surprised me by having champagne and strawberries waiting in our room on arrival. The breakfast was one of the best B&B breakfasts I've ever had, and Sue put out enough beautiful food to feed a small army (it was only us the first morning). Her pancakes are to die for! The gardens on the property were beautifully kept and well arranged. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Genesta immensely, and will be recommending it to friends. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed two nights in the largest room The Fernery. It was just wonderful. The room had everything we needed, the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Quality all the way here. The breakfast was great, lots too choose from. Lovely quiet surroundings and a friendly helpful hostess in Sue, we could not have asked for more. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend to others looking for a quality B&B with real character and charm.

Room Tip: I think its worth paying the extra dollars and staying in The Fernery which is the largest room.
