“A Nice Place to Stay”
Reviewed 4 December 2012

The Farnham Court was clean and comfortable, and the owners were more than friendly. The meals in the dining room were quite good, but if you want to settle for less, there's a McDonalds, a pizzeria, and a fish-and-chips shop within 100 meters. The property is a short drive to the Monash University campus in Churchill, and very convenient to the M1 freeway. On the good side, contrary to what another reviewer suggested, there is free wi-fi in the rooms. On the bad side, contrary to what still another reviewer suggested, the passing trains are more than noticeable. Still, I would gladly recommend this place to a friend.

The rooms at this motel are unusual. Instead of being off the car park the units are off a central indoor corridor and really quiet as a result. Unfortunately, they share an air con system, so while each room can control their temperature, you can't escape the noise of the ait con itself - especially in my room (14) where I thought I was right below it.
However, the rooms are big and rather nice. Mine had a 2 seater lounge and a dining table. The double bed was really comfy and the bedding was good quality. It had a separate toilet and a decent sized bathroom, but the bathroom was only partially renovated. The painting wasn't finished and most of the gold had worn off the taps in the basin. They are about to change owners, so who knows what will happen next. I hope they finish the renos as it really has potential. Best yet, it is next door to Maccas, but there is no road or other noise at all - not that I could hear over the air con anyway. Friends who also stayed, didn't have issues with the aircon, so maybe it was just louder in my room. Overall I liked it but would only give it 2/5 stars - the supplied an iron, but there was no hairdryer, but they did supply my favourite Kooka Biscuits. Good and no so good - but very reasonably priced at $80 a night. Oh and the restaurant is only open Monday to Thursday so there is no room service at all on weekends. Lucky you can walk next door to Maccas for breakfast. As to dinner, there is nothing in walking distance if you stay on a Friday to Sunday.

Room Tip: Uograde, dont select the basic double.

Too bad they are retiring and moving on.
Hope the new owners are as caring.
Restaurant has nice meals at reasonable prices.

Unfortunately Wifi is not included, costs $6 per hour or $20 for 24 hours.
If another motel had free wifi I would choose it over this one as I think these days it is a necessiity.
Even basic accommodations in third world countries I have travelled to now include this as a given. Australia really needs to lift it's game on this one.

We have stayed there on a few occasions whilst traveling in the country. Rooms are very clean (we stay in a Deluxe Queen) and very quite, although it is possible to faintly hear the occasional train on the adjacent rail line. The treat for us are the restaurant meals. Lovely quiet setting, comfy bar and excellent very well priced meals (open Mon to Thurs only). Hosts are very friendly.

Room Tip: A new car wash is being built one one side. This may adds some extra noise on the east block

Thank you for the review Peter. You have made a tip regarding the car wash being built next door. This car wash has restricted hours and there are sound barriers in place as part of their DA, so there will be no problem with any noise. Hopefully we will see you again soon. Regards, Steve

I stayed at this motel for a few nights. Booking though the motel's website was easy. Management were very friendly, efficient and helpful. I felt as though nothing would be too much trouble. The room I stayed in was a deluxe queen room, and although the bathroom and some of the facilities were a little dated it was exceptionally clean. It's location is easy to find and access being straight off Monash Way and 2 minutes from the freeway. Not too noisy, you can hear the odd train, but hardly noticeable inside the room. given the cost of the room I would say this motel is excellent value for money and I will certainly stay here again in the future.

We stayed here over the weekend for two nights. Morwell is a country town so honestly you can't expect a lot. The room surpassed my expectations. I was surprised how clean it was! The bed was a little bit squishy but definitely comfortable. It was everything we needed. The motel was right next to mcdonalds which meant morning trips for cafe coffee!
