“Great place”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The place is small but extremely cosy and nice to stay! Place is very clean! There is also a extremely nice restaurant just about 5 - 10 minutes to town. The cottage is however a little far away but you enjoy the peace and quiet in exchange for that! Service staff was very friendly, informing us of their sheep and cows that we can take a look at.

We travelled from Queensland feeling a little daunted about the Victorian winter, but could not have been happier with the views, service and facilities . The finishing touches of a log fire, timber raked ceilings, stained glass windows and freshly picked lavender sprigs made our anniversary stay certainly memorable. Thank you

We loved our stay here. Perfect for a family of 4. Challet was clean and comfortable. Great value for money. Staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is a drive to town but only a 5 minute one.

Stayed here on the 21/3/2014. I found the Staff to be friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well equipped with the odds and ends one could need. The atmosphere was pleasant and just a short distance out of town. Relaxing.

Daysy Hill Cottages was a little difficult to find, but fortunately the locals in Port Campbell knew where they were and were able to direct us there. Once there we were made most welcome by the young couple who had recently taken over the running of this accommodation. The cottages are upside down in design (quite appropriate for Oz), with the living and dining accommodation upstairs and the bedrooms and shared bathroom downstairs. The bedroom accommodation was a little unusual with one double bedded room and the other room with one single and one bunk bed. Fine for a family with small children, but a little unusual for two couple sharing the accommodation! There is plenty of open space at the front of the cottages, with BBQ facilities. Not a lot of traffic used the road below the cottages, so we had a good nights sleep, if a little cramped. The cottages were some distance away from the amenities in Port Campbell and this discouraged us from driving in at night.

Lovely setting and very clean, except here and there, dusting could have been improved. Two of us stayed two nights in January this year on our way back to Adelaide.

The only disappointing side of this was that between the two of us we got 2 small bath towels, 1 hand towel and 1 flannel.

Tea and coffee was provided but here again we only got 4 little milk pods.

When we asked for more just before we left we were handed, without question, 2 small cartons on milk which we could have done with when we first arrived.

Detail is the key.

Lauren F, Owner at Daysy Hill Country Cottages, responded to this review, 5 March 2014
Hi Jan,
Thank you for taking the time to make comment on your stay at Daysy Hill. We are glad to hear you appreciated our beautiful country setting.
We take pride in our cleanliness and presentation and are therefore disheartened to read some of your comments and would have really appreciated having a chat with you while you were here. We try very hard to ensure our guests have a pleasant and comfortable stay with everything they need and always welcome feedback.
Daysy Hill Country Cottages operates as self-contained accommodation and we feel we provide everything required for a homely country experience. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk are placed in our rooms but we find most of our guests either bring their own supplies or source them from the local grocery store or markets. As you mentioned we are more than happy to provide additional complimentary items should you need.
We do apologise for the dust, it is one of those things in summer when it is dry and there are fires around. We like to leave the windows open slightly to allow fresh air to circulate and in doing so the dust sneaks in.
Also, our linen and towels are provided and washed by a reputable commercial laundry who supply many of the accommodation businesses in the area. We are always happy to provide additional towels if required but we do keep in mind our desire to be as environmentally responsible as possible where water usage is one of our primary concerns.
Cheers,
Lauren and Andy
