We stayed with our three teenage boys as a one night stopover in a two bedroom unit. A bunk and a single meant no trundle which was great. No view but the unit was spacious and had a fully equipped kitchen and full sized fridge so we could eat in. There's a very convenient general store but also lots of eating choices if you don't want to cook. You can then jump back in the car and drive a short distance to London Bridge or the Twelve Apostles to watch the penguins arrive at dusk. Bed was very comfy afterwards and had a great night's sleep. Reception friendly and gave us free wifi - always gratefully accepted when travelling with teenagers.

Room Tip: Upstairs if you feel you need a view or up the back if you want quiet away from the main street.

The friendly chap on reception, the electric bed blankets and the central location were the only real positives. If your travelling the Great Ocean Road (GOR) stay in Lorne, Warrnambool or Port Fairy. This motel was a lot of money for a load of old rope! It seems that Port Campbell charges way more for poor quality accommodation than other towns along the GOR.
We stayed in No9 - although generally fairly clean, the room stunk of old something or other, the carpet had seen much better days and the bed linen consisted of an old bobbly blanket and uncomfortable pillows. The shower had black mould stains and the whole unit was in serious need of a refurbishment. The air con unit did not work and the kettle made the water taste stale, despite freshly drawn water. The balcony was a very narrow strip of concrete 4 meters from the roundabout outside the dirty patio door windows - certainly not somewhere to sit outside!
Now to the Wifi situation, according to both the staff we spoke with it does not work despite the owner having spent money on getting it fixed..... as I have never had problems connecting to wifi and staff said other guests had difficulties too, it is clearly not working and should be advertised as only having wifi in the reception room which is only open limited hours each day- shuts at 7pm ( I believe).
Another word of advice, if you are travelling by car buy everything you need from a large supermarket like Coles or such like, as you will pay triple or more otherwise ($12 aus for a medium bar of chocolate), that is if you arrive prior to the local shop shutting at 7pm.
Overall if we had paid €70 Aus I would have just put the experience down to bad luck but having paid over twice that, we feel well and truly ripped off!!

Room Tip: Do not stay at this hotel!

The Loch Ard Motor Inn is centrally located in Port Campbell. Front desk service was very pleasant and helpful. I had a motel room (apartments are also available) which was rather bland in its decor and had a rather tired looking bathroom, but it was comfortable and I slept well. The major downside was the shower: I quickly got the water temperature right, got in the shower and for a short while it was fine ... and then, it suddenly went scalding hot, then freezing cold, then back to my set temperature, and so it continued until I managed to rinse off and get out!

Position, position, position. The view out of our room's window was beautiful. Good value. Wifi doesn't work in room, ok outside. Staff very helpful. We travelled from the 12 Apostles an accidentally found this motel.

We came offseason and took a beach view double bedroom. The room was fare in size with a small dining table next to a petite balcony. The WiFi did not really reach room so we couldn't use it and our air conditioner's heating worked very poorly. So that kinda shadowed our experience hear. The location is good though.

An older but pleasant motel with nice rooms in the front with a view of the bay across the street, and at a reasonable price. No traffic at night in the small village so no problem there. The manager was very friendly and helpful in finding an Aussie adaptor as the one we had bought earlier didn't fit some of our electrical items. Very central to walk to restaurants or bakery in the morning. Also a very good location to go 12-15km to all the nearby sights in the morning before the hordes of tourists and buses arrive.

We stayed a night as a pitstop on the Great Ocean Road. The motorinn was situated at a nice location at a nice little town. We stayed at the family studio overlookng the street, which has a nice view of 'a little part' of the ocean...

There is a convienence store directly opposite the motorinn so if you need anything, you can go over to grab it. But it closes at 6pm, so if you need anything, go there early.

For a one night stay, it was okay as the room was basic and comfortable. There are free DVDs for viewing, which is a nice touch. But if you are expecting the room conditions to be the same as the pictures posted on its website, then you will be disappointed.

When we first went into the room, it seems dusty as though the room was not occupied and hence not cleaned for some time. And the room seemed a little 'old' and worn. An example of this would be the balcony grill where it was rusting quite badly, something you can't tell from the pictures from the website.

For the price and from the website pictures, we were a little disappointed with what we got. It was not the best, but I guess not the worst either.
