My husband and I booked the Ibis as my husband a serving member of the Royal Australian Navy was part of the Dawn service and march through Albany. When we booked we were lead to believe this was a hotel not a motel. On arrival we booked in and was given the key to our room which was a superior queen deluxe but was a very small room. On checking the bed the sheets had yellow stains and on the pillow was a long black hair. Out of the five lights in the room only two worked. The room was very dusty and you could see only the fronts had been wiped over. One of the glasses had lipstick on them. After coming back from the march our room had been made but obviously not very well as the cleaner had used cotton buds to do what I have no idea and left them in a neat pile by the cups. At dinner we waited ages for our food but it was the night before the dawn service so possible very busy, the food was basic my husband had ribs which were burnt the salad bar was an add on which you had to have otherwise you got just the ribs or whatever main you selected no veg. On the following night the restaurant was pretty much empty and we still waited ages for the food. Breakfast was very basic with hardly any options unless you liked fried food. On the day of our departure we got up to have a shower to find there was no hot water, when calling reception we were told all the water was off as they had a fault with the boiler and we would be given our breakfast free however, our breakfast had already been paid for so we were then offer a bottle of wine, which I declined as I don't drink wine, so the next option was a $25 refund. Reception staff was obviously a smoker who smelt of stale cigarettes when speaking to you, most hospitality staff at least have a mint before addressing customers. I would not recommend this MOTEL to anyone. We travel with another couple with a baby who had similar issues.

we spent three nights at the hotel, got a good deal on wotif, thank goodness as wouldn't want to have paid any more, got a ok bottle of wine (only after reminding them it was included) and full buffet breakfast which was alright. first room we stayed in stunk, someone had spilt seafood or something else horrid by the door, carpet was wet, complained but could not change rooms that night as fully booked, we changed rooms the next day, the new room was clean and tidy, but speakers on TV were faulty, Air conditioners filters were filthy and clogged, and doors squeaked. The staff were friendly enough but thought they could have made more of an effort to make sure we were happy with new room etc, wouldn't stay again.

After driving to Albany for over 6 hours from the Perth area we found the room disappointing and glad we only stayed one night. The room was the poorest of our entire 5 week tour of Australia. The main road was not a problem but there was a Bowls tournament at the facility next door and many bowls people were staying at the Ibis. Some team members sat outside our room until 10pm drinking wine and again decided to stand outside our room at 6.30am and talk loudly about the matches ahead. Why they couldn't do this outside there own room I do not know but when I gently mentioned it they replied that 'Australians like the outdoor life' as if that was an answer. The food in the restaurant was only acceptable for dinner but breakfast was poor. The car parked in front of us had its side window smashed and a bag on display stolen - obviously the owners fault but by the time we left the broken glass was still across the driveway. Surely someone from the hotel could have swept this up - as it was we reversed out of the hotel rather than drive over the broken glass. We would not stay there again.

Thank you for sending your comments, and I will share them with our team. Due to our location adjacent to the Bowling Club, we do attract many bowlers for tournaments through the season. I am sure they were excited about their accomplishments, and I am sorry this caused disappointment during your stay. Bob Overend, General Manager
