“Comfortable stay for families to visit region”
Reviewed 3 March 2009

Staff: Booked on one of the last minute websites, check in was quick and efficient on arrival (i.e collection of keys/directions to unit). The only other interaction we had with staff was on check-out, which only involved returning keys as we had paid upfront.

Room: Stayed in a 2 bedroom poolside villa for 2 nights. We were on the top floor of a double storey unit, which initially I thought was going to be troublesome as we were travelling with 2 young children, but in the end felt it was more private (eg. get to hang clothes out on rack in balcony where it is off limits to everyone else...units on bottom floor are not fenced in). Car park was close by. Playground very basic (no swings/slides) but kept our 2 year old occupied for a little. They also have a tennis court/pool/wading pool/BBQ in public area, but we didn't get the chance to try these. Units were presented clean and had all the kitchen appliances/equipement and basics you would need for a short stay. No dishwasher in the unit we stayed, and they request that you wash up before you leave which I thought was bothersome. Dryer/washing machine/vaccum/mops in unit for longer stays are available. Shower only, but if you have bubby the laundry sink is big enough to bathe them in it. We had 3 adults and 2 young children and the unit was big enough (configuration 1 double bed, 2 singles and a sofa bed; open plan kitchen/living area; combined toilet/bathroom/laundry). 1 split air-conditioner in the 2nd bedroom which serviced the whole unit when all doors open. We didn't have problems with noise from other holidayers during our stay (being a family friendly resort, you would expect kids to be up and outside relatively early). They only provide bars of soap and body towel, so bring all of your other toiletries. No room service for the 2 nights we stayed, but I'm not sure if there is any service for longer stays or if it could be done, perhaps for an extra charge.

Location: The resort itself is a short drive to Busselton town and the major tourist attraction - jetty/underwater observatory (be sure to book the latter in advance by phone if you are there for a short time only and are picky about what time you want to do the tour....highly recommended). Would be easy walking distance to beach too, but we opted to go to the beach near the jetty instead. Geographe Bay near the jetty is very calm and kid friendly....the sand was not as white and extensive as at Bunker Bay (which we visited the next day), but the water was calmer on the day we went. Watch out for stingers in Geographe Bay however... The Goose restaurant near the jetty had delicious food.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay at Amalfi, but nothing spectacular. I would recommend this resort, but if I was to go to the region again, would try somewhere else to stay. We went over a long weekend and only booked a few days prior, so this was one of the things still available without paying top dollar.

This was a last minute decision and we were really pleased with the 3 bedrooms premium apartment. as mentioned by the previous reviewer the loft is a bit worrisome for little ones. for my group however, its fine. the kids think that the design is quite fun !

for a 10 years establishment, the furnitures and appliances are considered new and well maintained.

We enjoyed quite a private setting and is really surprised that this place was not well reviewed by others.

the place has quite a lot of facilities. But we only stayed one night and did not manage to enjoy any of those.

the staff are very helpful and obliging in many ways.

Rooms were very clean and had all the basic amenities that we needed. Only problem we had with the room was that the room with single beds were in the loft with quite steep stairs and there was a half wall which if you look over the edge you can see the lounge area. We were very worried that our 3 year old daughter would fall over the wall as she is a very curious climber. We put her in the queen downstairs and my husband i slept in single beds. The other gripe we had was noisy guests in another bungalow who kept us awake on both nights that we stayed. The first night my husband had a polite word with the girls who were on a does night. We complained next morning to mangement who response was "sorry cant do much about it" they were spoken to but made more noise the next night. Personally I would have asked them to leave after the first nights noise as there were a lot of guests who were not happy about the noise as they had children who were also being disturbed. Would stay again (perhaps) but not on a long weekend.

  • Disliked — stairs up to the bedroom for the children
