“our last advantage plus free night at the Sebel in Mandurah-March9”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

We (wife and I) are long standing Adv+ members and chose this new addition to the Accor group for our free night.

From the moment of arrival till the time we left we received outstanding service. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were upgraded to a room with a big balcony overlooking the bay and Mandurah! The room was spacious and clean, and we had a free welcome drink and free wifi in the lobby.

Naturally, we ate at M on the Point for dinner and breakfast saving 50% of the bill and both meals we're delicious (the pork for dinner was just so MMM-and the big breakfast a welcome start for the new week!). We enjoyed the heated pool and just cannot fault this hotel, and will definitely stay here again. Thank you to all staff at the Mandurah Sebel-hope you join the "hotel for points" scheme of Accor Vacation club and we will also happily spend our points at this hotel as well! Definite recommendation for our overseas visitors given the easy train access from Perth!

I purchased 2 Scoopon vouchers and emailed to book a room. The booking was uneventful and I stayed with a friend for 2 nights. Our room was comfortable and roomy, the view was amazing!!! dolphins ++++. The balcony was small but it was too cold to sit out anyway. The view was appreciated from our beds! We booked a twin room and had a bedroom and sitting area. The. room was well maintained and comfortable. We exchanged our 2 bottles of complimentary red wine for white wine and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a late check out at 1300hrs.The toiletries were good quality too. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Superior water view room had an amazing view

This hotel is situated right on the foreshore of the estuary and you can get rooms with great views overlooking the estuary. We didn't need to take the car anywhere as great restaurants, shops and cafes are in easy walking distance.
We only stayed for one night but this is the hotel we stay at whenever we go to Mandurah.
Room and bathroom was very clean with great amenities. Mini bar is well stocked.

My husband and I live in Perth and were looking for somewhere to get away for a night or two to celebrate certain occasions through out the year. As Mandurah is only a short drive from Perth we decided to look for accomodation in the area. I can't recall why we chose the Sebel but it's one decision we both are glad we made.
The location is great as there is no need to drive anywhere to have an enjoyable stay. With various restaurants, shops, a cinema and the wonderful marina only a short stroll away. The main shopping strip in Mandurah is within walking distance as well and a casual walk along the boardwalk is most enjoyable.
The staff are ever so friendly and helpul and even the check in/check out process is a breeze. We can't fault the service as we have never had a problem.
One suggestion is if you are staying over the weekend.Ask to book a room that is the opposite end to the pub which is situated on bottom level. The music can be heard if you are directly above but your request will definitely be met if possible. The rooms are lovely and always fresh and clean with modern decor. Last but not least you can't beat the view of the estuary or the canals depending what side you book on. The prices are the best ever.
We have been going to the Sebel for the past few years and will definately be returning : )

Room Tip: Ask for room 428

Noisy was an understatement mate. When we got back to the room all we could here was BOOM BOOM BOOM they had failed to tell us that there is a night club under neath the hotel right near our room so we had to listen to that and drunken people leaving the establishment until midnight. After midnight finally things quietened down, Soon after which the night club staff made there departure from about 12.30 to 1am which they certainly weren't quiet about yelling loudly to one another and cheerfully beeping their car horns as they left. Finally we got to sleep at about 1.30-2am. At 7am we were woken to the sounds of people yelling and sining loudly, It seems that there were a bunch of pommie and irish soccer hoodlums staying at the hotel as well who thought it appropriate to disturb every body else's slumber with their noise and drunkenness at such a godly hour on a Sunday. We had had enough so we packed put stuff and went to check out of the hotel, There was a man in front of us at the desk who apparently was a resident of the surrounding apartments who had come over to complain about the noise also although according to him the noise had been going since about 6-6.30am. I told the receptionist about our experience at their lovely so called 4 and a half star hotel at which point she apologised and took $50 off of our nights accommodation. Not only that but the so called king bed that we were supposed to have was merely 2 singles pushed together and the windows in our room were broken and didn't open either. Not only that but they don't have their own parking so you have to park in the public car park across the road and if you wanted to park in their underground secure parking that it was another $25 a night on top of our accommodation. If you wanted to watch a movie these were $15.95 each also. I think that we will stick to camping and caravan parks in the future.

Dear TrisandCass P,

Thank you for providing your feedback to me via TripAdvisor and my apologies that your stay was flawed by a number of shortcomings.

We work very hard with our neighboring business, M on the Point Restaurant & Bar, with regards to maintaining a suitable level of noise for the peaceful enjoyment of our guests. I will be sure to discuss this feedback with them so we can continue working towards this cause.

With regard to the guests within an apartment that were being excessively loud, once we were initially notified we acted on this immediately. Once our Manager became involved the situated ceased. Whilst our Night Manager conducts floor walks, it was not noted of the level of noise due to these guests being out on their balcony.

We will investigate the bedding as these style of beds should not provide any discomfort when made correctly. With regard to the windows, these actually do not open - only the balconies allow access to outside.

I am very sorry indeed that you checked-out early and due to this I wish to discuss further if I may. Due to the anonymous nature of TripAdvisor if you could please contact me so I may discuss further with you?

Thank you again for making me aware of these shortcomings and I look forward to talking to you soon.

Regards

We stayed here when visiting my elderly mother. She had a bad fall on the steps outside the hotel which incidentally were unlit because there was some dispute as to who was responsible for replacing the bulbs. Strangely next day they were replaced. My mother was 87 she fell down some concrete steps the hotel staff were useless we had to eventually get a cab to take us to the hospital she was badly cut and bruised and at 87 the fall could easily have killed her. The manager called us the next day and generously only offered to refund our nights stay. We then had a big battle getting that! Frankly if I'd been living in Oz I'd have used they were so awful. When we finally got back from the hospital we were met by the police arresting the people in the next room who were being disruptive! Oh my god there is no way we would ever stay at this or any other of their hotels they were a nightmare!

Dear Nigel L,

Thank you for providing these comments regarding the incident which occurred in January 2013 which I facilitated the follow-up with you via email and phone. I do hope that your mother is fully recovered; this is an incident that we would never wish on anyone especially one so elderly.

The area where the fall allegedly occurred is not the property of The Sebel Mandurah and therefore required the owning company to be notified. As the hotel that your mother was staying in, we were more than happy to refund, as a gesture of goodwill, the nights' accommodation as you had requested us do.

As your mother is elderly it was believed by our Assistant Manager best to advise that she should be taken to the Peel Health Campus for further check-up after initially offering assistance in providing first aid. She then organised the taxi which we paid reimbursed you for.

I am sorry to hear through this TripAdvisor review that perhaps you are still not happy with our post-incident follow up nor the reason on why this occurred. I would like to have the opportunity to once again perhaps discuss with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me on my direct line being 0011 61 8 9512 8310 or email me on Leighton.Yates@accor.com.

Thanks Nigel and I do hope that your mother is fully healed and recovered.
