I was only there for one night, thankfully!
On first looks my room was adequate at best. The room was quite small.
The hotel is extremely noisy, the pool being in the centre of the hotel makes everything echo. So don't expect a sleep in!
Put my bag on the bed next morning to pack up and a big cockroach was on the underside of my bag that was next to the wall.
I would not recommend this hotel and I will never stay here again!

Just like most of the other reviewers have pointed out ..... it is like stepping into a time warp being at the Atrium. Very 80's.

We stayed here for two nights and I must admit it was not my choice at all but we couldn't get in anywhere else in Mandurah for New Year's Eve. Alicia, the manager, was fantastic - in fact she was the only one who replied to the emails I sent out to all the hotels and motels in Mandurah. The draw back was we had to stay two night minimum but it turned out that was not a bad thing.

I remember when this hotel was built and back then it was considered a real state of the art property. Now, yes, it does look dated but it certainly is clean so can't complain on that score. As for stepping back in time - even the crockery in the kitchen was a blast from the past. Haven't seen that stuff since early 90's.

There is a tremendous amount of noise from the pool so, yeah, don't go there for peace and quiet. Our room was close to the lift so we also got a lot of noise from people getting in and out of the lift. But I think the rooms running along the sides of the building and directly above the pool would be dreadful for noise. Fortunately, it did stop at 10pm and then we only had to contend with noise from people using the lifts. We weren't really disturbed too much by noise in the mornings thank goodness. There's only two lifts - one at each end of the building. Sometimes it was very busy and you would wait ages for the darn thing and then when it got to your floor it would be too full so you would have to wait even longer. Very frustrating.

The room is basic, though we did have a one bedroom/lounge/kitchen arrangement it was still pretty small and cramped. Only one old "window rattler" air conditioning unit. No fan at all, which is a shame. They should have a fan for the bedroom as it got very stuffy in there at night even with the window open. The kitchen is sparsely equipped and our room didn't have a knife that was suitable for doing basic things like cut tomatoes or cheese. In fact the only knife other than butter knives was a great long bread knife so it made food preparation a bit tough - I guess they think everyone goes out for meals and doesn't prepare anything in the room. The fridge isn't full sized but at least it wasn't a tiny bar fridge so we did manage to store most of our food and drink. There is no free bench space because the microwave oven takes up any space that could have been used. So the kettle had to sit on top of the microwave oven and the toaster had to sit on top of the cook top burner (there was a 4 burner electric cook top). I thought that was a bit dangerous and I think the hotel should look at relocating the microwave oven, maybe on a shelf over the top of the fridge.

The bed was ok. Not particularly fantastic but I managed to sleep reasonably well on it. The bathroom was extremely basic with just a shower unit (shower curtain not screen). Our toilet stopped working and I have to say they were fantastic on reception trying to get someone to go look at it on New Years Eve. There was no view whatsoever from our room (on third floor) but maybe the rooms on the top (sixth) floor might have some sort of a view.

We actually did end up using the pool area as my niece and children came down for the day and we took the kids into the 0.6m wading pool. So glad that they had a wading pool. The water was just awesome. Really pleasant and warm. Plenty of pool towels as well. The outdoor pool was still green and yucky looking and still had the construction fence around it.

I think for a family AND if the rates were cheaper, then this place would be a good place to stay. The indoor pool area alone would make it worthwhile for a family with kids who like jumping around in pools. I should imagine in cooler weather it would be an awesome way to spend the day. It wasn't cheap though, at $200 a night, but maybe that was because of the New Year.

It really was a trip back in time. I haven't stayed in a place like that since about 1992. But we did enjoy our stay and I wouldn't discourage families from staying there as I think it would be good for them if they wanted their kids to have fun in the pool. It's also in not bad location - not quite central to Mandurah town centre but easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor might have a but of a view. Also a room near the lift might get less noise from t...

Found the staff helpful, parking plenty, and very pleasant. It is a clean facility just a little dated. Would certainly stay again. The motel was in close proximity to the marina. We could walk to this area for a nice meal. Plenty of eating facilities there. Although at the moteL itself there was a restaurant.

Room Tip: Certain areas don't pick up wifi

We had a 6 night family holiday here, and it was fun. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. During the heat wave the air conditioning was adequate. Our holiday was a healthy one, as this hotel is situated near a safe swimming beach, the marina and shops. The indoor pool kept the kids entertained for hours whilst we looked on from the comfort of a couch with a cool drink in hand. The Hotel has aged with a style of it's own and the atrium effect with green plants tumbling down the centre from planter boxes adds interest. Unfortunately the outdoor pool was out of bounds, in fact it was green with ducks swimming around. Being on a budget we were able to prepare some meals in the limited kitchen area. The staff were very helpful.

Not bad as long as you're not looking for brand new resort-style accommodation.
We stayed here for 1 night in preparation for a triathlon. It's like stepping back in time, with the indoor pool and the vines on the walls. Love it. The room was like stepping back in time too, but it was clean and comfy. Full kitchen was a bonus too.
As it was a scorching hot day the indoor pool was actually a good option. The outdoor pool was out of service and looking a bit green :( maybe next time. The staff were very friendly. Despite the big open atrium our room was quiet and we got a good sleep, but no view. A reasonable walking distance from Mandurah's waterfront shopping/eating strip.

The hotel is a great value for money.
Look out for coupons and discounts and you can get 15-20% off their rate.
The resort is centrally located, the rooms are fine, you usually get a view, and it has a very nice central area where the indoor pool is (that's what you usually see on the title picture). There is a bar by the pool and it gets you in a very relaxed mood, though it's a bit pricey ($12 a pint), most days of the week they also do pizzas there.
The outdoor pool looks rather small and it's currently under upgrade I believe? There was a fence around it.
The indoor pool and spa are awesome if you've got kids, the only downside (for everyone else) is that the noise at the pool will penetrate everywhere. The pool closes at 10 pm and opens at 8.
Their restaurant deserves a special mention because they try so hard. The staff were very attentive and it felt like a five star place. The menu is not extensive but easy to find 2-3 dishes you may like, and they are cheap. We only had dinner there. When I fancied something from the "pre-dinner menu" it was available as well - nice. The food was good when it arrived, and kids portions very big.
I will definitely stay there again and strongly recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: We stayed on level 4 and got glimpses of the ocean

We stayed at the Atrium as part of a large group, well located, well presented and generally a neat hotel/resort. one of the downsides is taht there are only two lifts servcing quite a few rooms, so there can be a wait.
