Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids stayed at the 2 bedroom apartment in December 2008. We had a wonderful time.

The resort looks modern, clean and new. It has a beach front location and is also a short walk away from the marina and a stone's throw away from the river.

At the marina nearby, there are several restaurants and interesting little shops. We loved the fare at Sharkey's and at the prompting of our kids, actually ate there three times in the week we were on holiday!

The accomodation comprises the 2 storey villas and a high rise apartment complex. Several villas face the beach but some have no view other than empty grounds, so one should take note of that when making a booking.

We were fortunate in that our apartment was on the 4th floor and hence did not look straight into the villas. More importantly, it was wrapped around the corner of the building and thus we had excellent sea AND river views.

Our apartment had the usual amenities - kitchenette, washing machine etc; and 2 en-suite bathrooms, which was very convenient - plenty of space for all our stuff.

There is a lovely pool and heated spa by the beach. Parking was free, and there seemed to be ample lots. Also the resort is located in a relatively quiet and peaceful location, and as we were just looking to chill out, we were happy here.

Our extended family of 4 adults and three children stayed at the Seashells property in November 2008. The three bedroom apartment was located in a seperate building to the main hotel reception and was set slightly further back from the beach. The building has only a small public carpark between it and the beach. Apartments either overlook the beach or an inlet. We have previously stayed in the main building and some apartments in that building have views of both the inlet and the beach. The room was clean, modern and extremely spacious. The main bedroom had full length windows overlooking the beach with an outside terrace, a flat screen tv, walk in robe, large ensuite and seperate toilet. Our only criticism was that the shower was in the bath which had extremely high walls so was very difficult (and unsafe) to get in and out of. The second and third bedrooms were spacious and had wardrobes. The second bathroom include a small laundry with washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board, broom, vac etc. The bathrooms had complimentary shampoo and conditioner and wall attached dryers. The kitchen was well equipped with a cooktop, full size fridge, dishwasher, toaster, pots/pans. A large dining table accomodated 6. The living area had a comfortable modular lounge, coffee table and flat screen tv. The apartment was light and bright with tasteful decorations. In the same building there was a lit tennis court available at no charge for guest use. In front of the main building is a lovely pool area with an infinity edged pool, heated spa and childrens paddling pool. A key card is necessary to access any area in the complex including the car parks so the area is extremely secure. The apartment is located near a vibrant marina area which provides choices for eating and shopping. The apartment is well suited for families and long stay guests. We would highly recommend it.

We had 4 adults and 1 kid at 6 years old and a toddler at 21 months.

Although it said Max for 4 only for a 2 bedroom apartment on wotif.com, our booking at wotif.com went through. When we reached the hotel, for a moment, we were made to look liked we tried to cheat the hotel. Unfortunately we had to pay for an extra 1 bedroom for my parents. Anyway we paid for that extra 1 bedroom which we did not use much. The hotel does not seem to understand it was WOTIF website issue, not mine.

The lovely huge corner 4th floor - 2 bedrooms spacious apartment faces the beach and a not too pretty park. The kitchen is very modern with granite finishes and they even have a double tier pot which was rare and dish washer. As the apartments are so new & clean, you don't get a feeling of having to wash all utensils before use. The balcony has a deck table with chairs where you can have your breakfast. The rooms are spacious and have drop-down glass sliding doors that open to the balcony. We can watch sunset from the balcony. Both toliets are spacious with 1 of them having the washing m/c and dryer. Will be great if they have included the washing powder. 2nd floor apartments will be blocked by the front villas so try to ask for at least 4th floor if you book the beachfront views. The sofa and carpet is also well maintenance. You can access to your apartment from the carpark and there is no need to walk past the front desk.

You can get food at the nearby Dolphin Quay 5-min walk; supermarket is 5 mins drive away, beach is right in front of you, nice views. Overall, it is a lovely charming place to stay.

Loved it!!! Fantastic view and an oh-so-modern apartment. There were only two of us so we booked a 1 br apartment and upon arrival were treated to a beautiful outlook of the ocean which was so close that we needed to close the balcony glass sliding door to hear the TV over the waves!!! To me, there is no more pleasurable experience than laying in bed at night listening to the tide roll in....

Anyway, we found the reception to be friendly and courteous. There is no on-site restaurant but it is a very pleasant 5 minute walk to the Quay or a 10 minute walk over the bridge to even more cafe's and even a cinema. Then a further couple minutes to the main cafe strip of Mandurah.

I would definitely recommend anyone stay here ... we came without our children this time but would love to bring them back to test out the pool and spa which looked very inviting (but waaay too cold to swim!!).

We booked to stay at Seashells Mandurah through their online booking system. You can actually see floor plans which is fantastic. Originally we booked a 3 bedroom beachfront villa but someone kindly rang and explained it was actually a two storey villa - a one bedroom unit downstairs and a 2 bedroom unit upstairs - the two aren't inter-connected by an internal door so this would not be suitable for families with small children.

We booked the upstairs 2 bed part of the villa and it was certainly luxurious. I can't believe anyone can build that close to the ocean, you are practically in it! The kitchen is well appointed with good quality appliances, the bathroom has a HUGE bath and the main bedroom houses a king size bed. You can open the main bedroom and see through to the ocean through the living room. The kids' room had its own TV and two single beds. It was all airconditioned. The unit also has a hide-away laundry with washing machine and dryer.

Now the warnings for families with young children...the lounge suite was SUEDE...or faux suede...but so easy to mark with little fingers. The kitchen is very exposed and you have to watch kids around the oven. And there is a stair case which is between the kids bedroom and kitchen which a child could fall down. Also, if you have prams and a lot of other paraphenalia you will be dragging it up and down stairs to get to your car.

Other facilities - the inifinity pool is gorgeous but not all that warm in cooler weather. All the guests were crammed in the spa! When we stayed there was no room service or restaurant but this was being built I believe. You can order a breakfast hamper which is basic and not really worth the money. It contained some bread, fruit, yoghurt, juice and a muffin.

All in all I can highly recommend Seashells resort.

See my review on the Mandurah Quay. The Seashells was booked by the tourist information office in Mandurah and it was fantastic. They were booked up and could only offer us 2 different rooms at the time, the first was a beachside villa and the second was a hotel room with panaramic views. I am English by birth and pride myself on being hardy, I therefore braved the pool in October. Stiff nipple country, but the heated spa was lush.
