“Peaceful getaway with excellent food”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

Simple, clean and comfortable accommodation with lots of thoughtful details. Generous breakfast every morning with plenty of options, and dinner is well worth the little extra. Tracy was happy to cook us whatever we wanted and accommodate dietary requirements. Our steaks were both cooked perfectly, exactly how we like them, and the vegetable stack with goats cheese and thai green curry were both really fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our stay. The three days at the Wren were wonderful. A comfortable
bed, plenty of space in our room and terrific breakfasts. We so enjoyed our first dinner there we booked in for the next night. The walks (The Warren River) etc were great. Our thanks to Tracey and Paul for their hospitaility. Helen and Peter Fox

We picked A Splendid Wren because of the good reviews and we were not disappointed.

Tracy was very welcoming and helpful with tips for touring the area. The breakfast she produced was excellent.

There are only two rooms but the shared lounge area is a good size. It felt like a home away from home, particularly as we were travelling with two friends and had the place to ourselves.

We only stayed one night as our time was limited. We travelled to Pemberton from Perth then we spent a few days in the Margaret River area before heading for Perth and back home. The Splendid Wren was an ideal place to stay on this limited itinerary.

A Splendid Wren is splendid value.

I am a self-professed foodie so when I read all the reviews that raved about Tracy and her splendid cooking, I cancelled my previous booking in Pemberton and contacted her about two nights' stay in Dec 2011. Tracy was really sweet and her emails are full of helpful tips and things that my husband and I could do around Pemberton during our two days' stay. She also had a lot of these personal touches such as printing a personalised welcome note for us and the breakfast menu even had our names on it!

The meals Tracy provided is of high standard -- she is an awesome cook! She apparently started cooking when she was very young and it has been a hobby for her ever since :) The best meals we had on our entire WA trip was at this humble place. She whipped up generous portions for breakfast and we dined there one night for dinner as well, where she prepared a lovely portion of lamb for the hubby and truffle chicken for me.

Some cons though: the location is a distance from the town area in Pemberton so it is a must to drive. Also since it was in a forested area, there were no street lights so we had to go real slow when coming back from dinner when we dined out, but that was still quite an experience! Another thing is that the rooms look a little basic but it is still very clean and well-kept. There is wifi connection but it is impossible to connect to it in the rooms -- you have to go to the lounge area to access the Internet.

However, despite these cons, I will be back there to visit if I do go back to Pemberton in the future. Tracy's hospitality and her cooking certainly made my Pemberton stay a memorable one! We felt thoroughly pampered and spoiled on our honeymoon :)

We stayed at A Splendid Wren during our recent travels in The Margaret River area and were not disappointed. Tracey was not there when we arrived, we were welcomed by Gomez! There was a note on the door welcoming us and we let ourselves in. The location is slightly unusual the property is a chalet style in the middle of a wooded area. The birds were out in force when we arrived but we didn't see them again during our stay. Tracey is a very helpful and charming host, we ordered an evening meal which was very good and we brought our own wine and beer and sat in the lounge and passed a very pleasant evening. It is certainly worth having a meal at the property, it is easier than driving back to Pemberton as there did not seem to be very much there in the way of restaurants.
Tracey was working the following day so we had breakfast at 7.45 and carried on with our travels.
This property is ideal for somebody that wants a quite forrest type location, ideal for bird watchers and walkers.
Tracey was extremely helpful and an expert on the local area. Very high standard of cooking.
One helpful hint ignore the Sat Nav it doesn't work properly in this area, follow the road signs!
You save a lot of time and petrol!

We were really lucky to stay here. I had only booked the night a few days before we were due to arrive and was really surprised when I saw how nice the place was. The rooms look new, are very nice and the bush is literally outside your front of your door.
The owner Tracey is very nice and you can tell she loves running the B&B. Its great to talk to someone who likes what they do.
The spledid wren was exactly what I was looking for and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Only two rooms available.
