The information and history on this place was interesting. The climb along up the tree was a little scary for me as I only made it 1/4 way up but is on our list to do this year when returning. Hubby and me will climb to the top to get the whole experience.

the amazing view on top is worth the effort, yes, it is scary, but what a journey and view you will get!

My 11 & 35 year old kids climbed this tree. On retrospect they wished they had climbed it before the Bicentennial tree as it felt like a bot of a non event after that!
But still a great climb and wonderful views.
I stayed firmly on the ground this trip - I climbed it when I was 4 months pregnant 24 years ago so didn't feel the need to repeat the exercise!!

Absolutely loved climbing the Gloucester Tree.. was one of the hi-lights of my trip. Although high and the nature of the climb.. (stakes knocked into the tree a considerable distance apart.. very steep), it is worth the climb when reaching the top and being able to see over the entire forest! Reasonable level of fitness required and not recommended to those with a fear of heights.

Fascinating opportunity to see into the trees from a considerable height even if one doesn't want to climb to the top. (We didn't have time to do the tree-top walk further down south and this was a good taste.) No crowds on this day. Disturbing to see climbers ascending in flip-flops while holding cell phones despite the clear signage at the base of the tree.
