Before we even arrived we weren’t impressed as all directions to the place indicated it was in Pemberton. After driving around trying to find it I rang them and was told if I was in cell phone range then I wasn’t near them – they were 22kms from Pemberton! However the location is the big plus as it overlooks a large lake in a very scenic area. Our cabin was on the water’s edge (No.1) and the outlook was perfect. These cabins are built in blocks of four and appear to have common timber flooring and sometimes when the ‘neighbours’ stepped on the right floorboard I could feel a slight movement through the chair I was sitting on. The walls are very thin to the extent that on our second night I could hear conversations from 2 rooms away. There is no toaster or cooking facilities which meant our only meals were from the onsite restaurant. They have a take away service and the fish and chips we had were reasonably priced. Apparently the lake is suitable for swimming, fishing and other water sports but as it was the middle of winter it wasn’t being used very much. Birds fly in to our deck and enjoy being hand fed although we later read this isn’t encouraged. I would recommend getting an end cabin, such as No.1, as that’s one less neighbour to listen to. The rooms are basic but sufficient with the big attraction being the outlook and location. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: An end room on the lakeside cabins to reduce number of neighbours. Thin walls.

Thank you for the feedback. We will follow up with your booking channel as it seems that your information on Karri Valley Resort was not correct before you arrived with us. The room you stayed in is a Lakeside Hotel room and does not have any cooking facilities. We do have 2 and 3 bedroom chalets which have a kitchenette. They are separate to the main block in which you stayed. We are pleased you enjoyed the location and the views and wish you happy travels.

What a beautiful place to stay. very peaceful and relaxing. There is so much to do here that you don't have to leave if you don't want to. The wildlife is amazing I was feeding brids out of my hand and there are so many kangaroos around just spectacular. The only thing I have to say is that the cabins could do with a reno, not to lose the cabin feel but our shower had no pressure at all but our family in another cabin had great pressure, the microwave was sparking which turned out to be the wall switch, the stove kept turning off when we were cooking so we had to use the electric fry pan. But the biggest thing is the walls are sooooo thin that you can hear someone roll over in bed from the other room and also people going to the bathroom all that is deviding you is a thin piece of plaster, So if you are with a family be prepared to all go to bed and wake up at the same time. They really need to make the walls so much thicker. Another thing is that our fridge wasn't turn on when we arrived and it took a whole day to cool down which isn't good when you have food that needs to be cold like meat, cheese ect. Apart from a few little things the rest was fantastic. I loved having a fire place in our cabin it was so warm and cozy. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook with.

This is a great place to have a picturesque holiday loaded with outdoor activities. Vouchers can be obtained for the activities. The lakeside cabins ( try to get get a single story cabin) are right on the lake. Staff were international backpackers and were superb, they seemed to genuinely like working there.
The only downside is you can hear a lot of thumping noises from your neighbours walking around!
The lake is okay for swimming provided you like coldish water, although I did go in winter so it might be much warmer in summer.
The food in the lakeside restaurant was superb, I had kangaroo steak one night and lamb shanks the other, both were to die for.
There are family cottages set back from the lake, I am a worry wart so would only take kids that could swim as the lake is not fenced and gets deep quickly as you leave the shore.
Overall, I wish we had stayed longer

Room Tip: For couples, get a single storey lakeside room.

The location for Karri Valley Lodge is superb. The lake, and being able to kayak on it, was just beautiful. (although I do think the kayaks should be free when staying on the resort). I loved sitting on the deck of our room, overlooking the lake, enjoying a drink and luring in the birds to share our snacks. BUT the rate for the room was too pricey for what we got. Only one towel each, the 'kitchen' sink was also the bathroom hand basin. In fact I would consider the kitchen/bathroom only fit for a camping ground cabin. Having said that, it was a beautiful location and that would really be the main reason for staying at Karri Valley Lodge. So would I go back there again?? Yea, probably.

Had our holiday in a 3 bedroom chalet,at $303 a night a bit pricey and would have expected a few things like the microwave not turning and 3 light bulbs not working to be ironed out.I really think it is time to get rid of the mini analog t.v and micro dvd and upgrade .
That aside the only other problem here in winter is the wood fires attached to every chalet, the resulting pall of smoke that hangs over the Resort 24/7 makes it uncomfortable and unhealthy to breath.
Karri Valley is a beautiful Resort and the small things certainly do not put us off coming back for over ten years now. The fishing was good, the restaurant was very good with very nice wait staff.
I highly recommend Karri Valley as a family holiday destination.

This is truly God's own country and the Karri Valley Resort is a wonderful natural property.

The perfect base for enjoying nature as it should be with those towering Karri trees everywhere.
You can even fish from your balcony. It's been years since we were there but I feel obliged to tell TA readers how nice it is.
It's not 5 star, but that's the point, a natural experience surrounded by natural timber reminding you of the basics in life that are so important in this material world.

We spent one night at Karri Valley Resort on a 4 day guided tour. It was one of the highlights of our tour. The staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast enjoyable. Waking in the morning to birds on our balcony over the water was magic. It was not modern but clean and warm, just what you would expect in such a natural environment.
