A heads up to anyone travelling light, walking the Bibbulmun or backpacking and plans to stay at this caravan park. The Camp Kitchen is exceptionally laid out, lots of space and lovely view on the verandah. BUT and it's a big BUT..... you can't cook anything because there is NO cookware, cooking utensils, microwave anything!! There are 4 x new ovens but no oven trays. Basically a glorified hotplate and sink.
So don't take it for granted that because there's a Camp Kitchen, you will be able to use it. Was very disappointed. We did suggest to Reception that they hire a kitchen 'kit' of basic essentials as an absolute minimum. So many other caravan parks have the basics, and yes a small number of idiots spoil it for the rest by stealing stuff. I get it, but that goes with the territory.

I wanted to stay somewhere overlooking a lake surrounded by trees. The photos on the Karri Valley website are exactly what it looks like in real life! Relaxing sitting on the balcony, even when its cold and wet. Activities to do and places to go around the area or just chill on your own balcony. Shaz in the office was great. Restaurant staff were polite although busy. Food at the restaurant was delightful. I will be back

We're 3 friends, shared 3-bedroom unit 2, a freestanding cabin.
The good: gorgeous and peaceful location, universally excellent, smiling staff, good meal at the restaurant looking over the lake, comfortable beds with a view, log wood heater, huge modern fridge (though ice water reservoir leaked), large combo clothes washer/dryer.

The bad: this unit (and unit 1 I assessed) is tired, dated and urgently needs a modest spend. Lighting is poor, just 2 halogen (really!) spots for the large living area, same in the kitchen. Old gas stove/oven needs matches to light hobs. Crockery and cutlery cheap and nasty, minimal plastic cooking utensils/equipment. No dish rack OR dishwasher - how should you wash dishes? No teapot (see another review from 2020!) or coffee plunger. Broken exhaust fan in bathroom. Very long shower curtain drapes on the shower floor - do they still make these?? No exhaust fan in one of the 2 toilets. One toilet door coming apart.

Why the criticism? RAC has a reputation to maintain. This is a resort in a beautiful location, 20 minutes outside modest Pemberton. So people will bring all they need to stay many days, and want to fully self-cater: eggs and bacon with decent tea and coffee at breakfast, a proper dinner for up to 6 people, maybe bake a cake, invite friends for drinks and snacks.

In 2022, airbnb is competing and will win hands down if RAC don't get a move on.

But again, thanks to all staff there.

We stayed in the camping site of the resort. Lovely open fields with kangaroos in the mornings. Across the road you can find the stunning lake with natural forest surrounding. Great place to swim, paddle board, canoe, relax. Quiet and lovely place. The restaurant is a fantastic place for a meal and a drink, too, stunning views over the lake.

Restaurant had a great menu with out of the ordinaryl appetising dishes, well presented food & great service. Staff were very welcoming. Excellent views across the lake. Prices are on the high side. We didn't stay at the resort but it was full for a long weekend so obviously popular.
