“Perfect family accommodation”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Our last minute choice of Foragers proved to be excellent in terms of a great holiday in Pemberton, a pretty town set amongst the magnificent karri forests. We were close to trails which afforded walking opportunities. There are resident chooks and a couple of pigs, so children and even adults won't get bored. In fact, the owner was very happy to let us watch him feed the animals and patiently answered our questions.

We stayed in a two-bed self-catered accommodation. There was nothing lacking, the rooms were kept clean, the hot water facilities worked, and when we left after two nights, we happy to clean the place to its original condition.

We weren't able to taste the hosts' cooking, which was a pity as we understood that it was excellent.

Foragers is a few minutes' drive from town, but most guests will need a car anyway to enjoy Pemberton's attractions: walk a section of the Bibbulmun Track, visit the Brook Arboretum, climb the 60m Gloucester Tree, try delicious local marron and trout, and sip tea at the local cafes.

Enjoyed 2 nights with family in the farmhouse. Comfortable accommodation for 2 coupes and a few children, great open areas and a few animals to entertain a toddler.
Close enough to town to slip in for supplies.

We stayed here for 2 nights with another couple in the eco-chalets. Very stylishly decorated, clean with a lovely big shared bathroom. On our arrival there was no-one at reception and it was only by chance later in the night that we tried again and found the owners son there. We asked about our breakfast provisions which he knew nothing of !! He eventually arrived with one later in the evening. The bread was SO hard we were unable to eat it and the rest was very ordinary. The kitchen is not equipped to cook proper meals so unsuitable for a stay of more than afew days. The balcony with the bbq was lovely looking over the forest. We went for a walk to check out the chooks & vegie garden. It would have been so much better if the restaurant was open during our stay. The wood heater was lovely and cosy in the evenings. I left afew items of clothing behind and the owners graciously mailed them back to me...many thanks for that.

The location is away from town and set in beautiful bushland. The modern accommodation was stylish, practical, comfortable and spacious. Dinner was a definite highlight, delicious food well cooked and presented. Great bread and jam in the breakfast hamper too. Kitchen well equipped and even a BBQ outside if the mood takes you.

Be aware there is no phone reception with Telstra (and I'm assuming others) unless you head a couple of kms into town.

We booked a 3 night mid week stay in spring in one of the new eco-chalets at $250 per night for 2 people. Yes the chalet was comfortable, but there were no dining events during our stay and we failed to get any appreciation of what Foragers is about as a result, especially as there was nobody in reception at any point we passed (between 10am and 5pm) and nobody came to say hello, welcome us and explain what there was to do in the area. Breakfast provisions (provided only for day 1 although no price reduction for subsequent days) arrived around 7pm on day 1. The hamper we ordered for the second day arrived around 8.30pm so could not be used for a light dinner and the provisions were basic, limited and small in quantity for a cost of $48, we would have preferred to use a supermarket had we known. And most bizarre of all for such a culinary orientated business, there was no oven, only a microwave and a barbie (and this was spring not summer!) - all the really good self catering places we stayed at in various states had a full oven. Altogether not remarkable for the price paid.
Furthermore the property is close to a main road which can be noisy with road trains.

The meals provided in the restaurant on Friday's and Saturday's are always outstanding. We have been on many occasions and have really enjoyed the meals on each and every occasion. The staff (mostly family) are friendly and welcoming and the long table experience is fantastic. This place is unique - you will not find a place in Perth as good. The food is rreal food, not tricked up, not art on a plate but delicious, seasonal, flavoursome food, most superbly cooked. This place is a treasure and we are so spoilt having this restaurant/cooking school in Pemberton..

We stayed in Hass one of the Luxury Eco chalets. It was just fantastic! All the luxuries of a 5 star hotel with a self contained country feel.

The wood fired dinner on the saturday night was by far the best meal I have had in a long time. Such great food, lovely atmosphere and Sophie's passion for her cooking is felt at every stage.

We will be back!!
