“Food was amazing!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2013 via mobile

I ate at the Hospitality Inn Restaurant earlier this month for a work function.
It certainly is the best restautant in Port Hedland but also rivals other great restaurants I have eaten in recently in the big cities.
I choose the fish special of the night which was a perfectly cooked piece of snapper, topped with a deliciously light butter sauce and red caviar accompanied by a mango salsa. It was delicious!!! Service was also great which it normally is.
I cant fault this place - keep doing what you are doing guys - as local residents with limited other options we appreciate a nice place to dine out for dinner occassionally!!
See a photo of the dish I aim to post 10/10!!

Dear Giboos

What a wonderful, positive and passionate accolade from a Tripadvisor “Top Contributor” – our chef, Manager and the restaurant team were absolutely delighted to read your review – and thank you for sharing your photo of your delicious meal. We do find the local’s love to dine with us – and we are very pleased to welcome them – it can get heavily booked with corporates in town, but the weekends are a great time to enjoy the cuisine. In fact, everyone will be excited to experience the new menu due to be lunched in the next couple of weeks – and the meals are simply divine, unique and mouth-watering – including Crab Crostini, Aromatic Tiger Prawns, Spicy Pork Spare Ribs, Grilled Swordfish or Barramundi and a Summer Berry Custard Cake Bar to finish. YUM! No doubt we shall see you again soon! Kindest regards, Amanda

Port Hedland is a busy town and there is little to choose from in the way of hotels. The Hospitality Inn gives you what you would expect from a hotel that is usually very busy. It is clean, the staff friendly and no surprises. Meals are difficult to get in the town and the restaurant here is one of the better ones. It is very busy so book a table early. We arrived at 4pm and got the last table. The food was very good, much better than we had expected.

Why...with all the money floating around this town, and outrageous accommodation costs, hotels can't rise above ugly. The mayor is currently creating brilliant open spaces, yet the interior of the hotels are down right depressing. What would it cost to splurge on some trendy bedspreads, cool curtains, and appealing paintings. This is number 2, hate to see number 5.

Dear Foof18

We are very disappointed that your expectations of our property were not met. The town is most certainly a busy place, and in order to accommodate the demand, we ensure that our rooms are available and maintanied and spotlessly clean and comfortable – with fantastic customer service. Our rates are the lowest in town and we trust you understand the limitations imposed in regional Western Australia with relation to accessibility to tradespersons and the time required to upgrade the facilities. Wages are also high, along with the cost of transportation of goods. We are constantly working on our upgrades (see previous review) and over time will have these complete, however our clientelle is important and we wish to ensure we service our regular guests – and ensure they are in a clean and welcoming environment. As you will see from the last 2 TripAdvisor reports, our guests generally understand our position and are pleased with their stay. It is unfortunate that we were unable to satisfy your needs on this occasion – we respect your opinions. We do thank you for staying with us and wish you well in your future travels. Best regards, Amanda

To be honest It is good when you think port hedland and australia's conditions. Everything is expensive. so price is reasonable. Rooms clean But they have to clean air conditions filters! They are really dusty...except this clean place.

Stayed in an Ocean View Room for one night. The room has been upgraded from an old style motel room. Very comfortable with great king size bed and large tv. Bathroom is old style with a shower curtain in the shower but very clean. Booked into the motel's dining room as we couldn't be bothered finding anything else in Port Hedland after a long drive. The Restaurant was a great surprise. Fine dining with crisp white tableclothes and serviettes and the food was great. Breakfast the next morning was also enjoyable.

My partner and I have been forced to stay at Hospitality Inn several times because there is no where else to go. In a nutshell. The Hotel is bordering on full every night..thanks to guaranteed workers so amazingly we've been grateful for even a room available in town. But the rest of it is highway robbery when it comes to the room. Ridiculously overpriced, and I agree with everything said by other viewers. The decor including the lamps that are stained, black in places, should be thrown away and replaced. Jugs are ancient $ 10 KMart jobbies,, linen is limp and certainly doesn't give you a fresh feeling, it does smell inside, the bathrooms are shocking really, damaged doors, handbasins old and cracked, hairdryers marginal....they've had far too much use and need to be revamped. The curtains are stained and had globs of food (?) stuck to it. I wonder, it must the one of the most lucrative hotels in Australia, so where is the money going cos it sure isn't going back into the hotel !! I must say, the only redeeming thing is the restaurant which is always OK ( expensive though ) there's a waiter there who is always very courteous, and the pool is nice. The last time we were there which was just several weeks ago, I had to tell the girl at the counter how rude and unfriendly she was. No, rock on out of town if you can.... unfortunately, the next town ( where we live ) other than Broome will be just about as expensive.

Room Tip: The beach side I guess, but whichever room you go into, you won't be impressed.

Dear Reematt30

We are disappointed that your recent experience was less than satisfactory at our hotel, and we certainly appreciate you bringing the areas of concern to our attention to enable us to address them. The housekeeping staff have been addressed regarding the curtain situation that they have unusually overlooked, and they have attended immediately to the issue. Cleanliness is our top priority and this situation is certainly an exception to the very high standards our experienced housekeeping team pride themselves on. Likewise, our front office staff have been alerted to your less than satisfactory experience with one of our receptionists, and reminded of their training and the importance of friendly and courteous customer service at all times. We are pleased you enjoyed the pool and the Pilbara Room restaurant, which is also a town favourite with the locals and guests alike.

As you acknowledged, Port Hedland does have an under-supply of accommodation and there is much pressure on the availability of rooms in the town to satisfy the tourism and the corporate/mining sector in particular. As you would agree - being a resident of the region, it is expensive throughout the North West area to operate a business due to the remote location, staffing costs and general maintenance costs and these costs are reflected in the current rates. The Hospitality Inn Port Hedland is one of the more affordable, value for money hotels in Port Hedland and we endeavour to ensure this is the case. It is also challenging to maintain the equilibrium between renovation and maintenance and to ensure the regular clientele are sufficiently housed, however we are in the midst of a substantial refurbishment program that addresses the items you mentioned – the challenge being finding the room availability balance without letting down our clientele, and the availability of tradesmen is an issue also. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to town, and trust you will find the service and cleanliness of exceptional standard.

Yours sincerely

Alex Stellmach

Stayed for only two days for work, rooms seem to have perhaps have had a bit of a makeover. Bed was comfy, large TV, good bathroom. Found the service to be good, friendly kiwi lady on reception. Restaurant was better than expected and not as expensive as what yo might expect in Hedland. Place is usually full of fly in/out workers. Happy to recommend in an expensive town.
